Task:

In a network installation, in addition to the program folder located locally on the respective workstation computer, there is a central file storage folder on the data server via which all users can access the office standard and all projects.

How is a new installation of several Allplan workstations with a central file storage on a dedicated server carried out?
What are the requirements?
How is the workgroup manager installed if the license includes it?

1. Preparation

Server operating system or system requirements:

When selecting the data server to be used, please refer to our system requirements. We recommend
Windows Server 2022. Also check whether the system requirements are met on the clients and perform a system test on them.

We explicitly point out that NAS (Network Attached Storage) is only supported on the basis of Windows Storage Server.
DFS (Distributed File System) with Allplan is not supported; it can lead to crashes, deadlocks and deleted files.

Share structure

Allplan works with UNC path. This means that for a network installation, the central file storage on which Allplan 2022 is to be installed must have a folder that is shared by all computers with full access.
Before installing Allplan, create a folder on the server (e.g. Data) and share this folder with everyone with full access (e.g. as Data). Create an Allplan subfolder under it. (e.g., \Server\Data\Allplan). Point to this path during installation.

2. Installation on the first workstation:

Log on as administrator on the workstation where Allplan 2022 is to be installed.

Double-click AllplanSetup.exe in the folder that you used to unpack the installation package.
Confirm the welcome screen with Start setup. Confirm the terms of the software license agreement displayed in the following License Agreement dialog box by clicking Agree.
On the General tab of the Settings dialog box, select the country-specific settings to be installed under Select country and the language for the Allplan user interface under Select language.

Note: The country and language that are set for the operating system on the workstation in question are suggested. If the country and/or language are not recognized, English is used. Please avoid selecting unnecessary countries or languages, as this will greatly increase the data volume to be installed.

Now select the target paths in which the programs and files of Allplan 2022 are to be installed.

Program folder: Specify the folder for the program files. Normally, it is not necessary to change the folder suggested here. In any case, the program files must always be installed locally on each workstation.
Central file storage folder: Specify as the central file storage folder the folder created and shared on the data server as described in section 1. (e.g. \Server Data File Folder).

Click Install. The installation of Allplan 2022 is started.

Note: If the installation could not be completed successfully, you will receive a corresponding message. In this case, you will find the file Error Report of Allplan_Installer.zip in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp. The file contains important information that you can pass on to ALLPLAN GmbH Technical Support if you need to contact them.

In certain cases, you will be prompted to restart the computer after completing the installation of Allplan 2022. In this case, restart the computer and log in again after the restart as the local administrator or as a user with administrator rights.


2a. Installation with the Workgroup Manager option
(If your license does not include this option, go to step 3).

If your license includes the Workgroup Manager option, please proceed as follows before installing the other workstations.
Start Allplan 2022 once immediately after installing the first Allplan workstation in the network and then stop it again. Then activate the workgroup manager directly as follows.

To do this, start Allmenu 2022 on the first computer.
Call up Allplan Diagnostics. Allmenu->Service->Allplan Diagnostics
In Allplan Diagnostics, select the Settings tab and check "Workgroup Manager" in the Workgroup Settings area. Click on Set. The workgroup manager is now activated.

If the check mark for "Workgroup Settings" cannot be activated, it is because the central file storage folder "Net Path" is not entered in a UNC-compliant manner. (e.g.: \\Servername\Daten\Allplan). Change this if necessary. Under "Browse" the UNC name of the new server (e.g.: \\Servername) or the complete path (e.g.: \Servername) can be entered in the opening browser.
(e.g.: \\Servername\Daten\Allplan) and confirm with Enter. Select your central file storage folder and confirm with "OK".
Even if the central file storage folder is located locally on the same computer, the path must be entered as UNC address!

Exit Allplan Diagnostics by clicking Close.
Allmenu now additionally contains the Workgroupmanager menu.


2b. Creating the Allplan users

As a result of the initial installation, the installing Windows user is created in Allplan as a user with administrator rights. On the first installed workstation, create all other Windows users of the other workstations as Allplan users in the workgroup manager:

Allmenu -> Workgroupmanager -> Manage users -> Right click -> Create user.

Under "User name", a freely selectable Allplan user name with up to 8 characters in length can be assigned.
Under "Windows user name", the user name that the user uses when logging on to the computer must be specified.

Important: If the user logs on to the computer via a domain, this must also be specified under "Windows user name", e.g.: DOMAIN\User
Under "User group" the administration right can be granted:
Administrator" must be selected in the drop-down menu. Existing users can thus also be granted administration rights at a later date.


3. installation on the other workstations

Now install Allplan 2022 on all the other workstations as described above under "2. Installation on the first workstation". Enter the folder created and released in step 2 for the central file storage on the data server as the central file storage folder. (e.g. \Server DataAllplan).

Note: If the Workgroup Manager was activated after the first workstation was installed (see step 2a.), it is automatically activated on all other Allplan workstations installed in the same network by selecting the Central file storage folder.

Fixing NemSLock after Windows update

Question:

After I updated Windows (8 to 8.1; 8.1 to 10), Allplan only starts as a viewer. What can I do?


Answer:

Windows update corrupts Nemetschek Softlock License Manager.
To fix Allplan, do the following:

You need the latest installation package for your version.
You can download this package from our webdrive

You can find the installation packages in the following path:
Allplan/"Version"/Installationspaket/

Copy the zip file to the local computer and unzip the file.
Start the installation and run an update use our temporary license file.

After the installation, you can open License Manager again (Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager). Next, install the temporary license (*_psd.nslock): "Install - Install license"
Note: the status of the temporary license is set to "Expired".

Next, create a new registration request.
To generate a registration request, do the following:

Open License Manager (Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager). Select the license entry for your seat and click "Request license".
Follow the instructions displayed on screen. Complete the form. Do not forget to enter your email address.

Check that the Client ID and CD Key are correct.

Send the registration request to: register@nemetschek.de.

Removing NemSLock completely

Question:

How can I remove NemSLock completely from a computer?



Answer:

Do the following:

  1. Uninstall Softlock 2006 by clicking Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features.

  2. Select "Nemetschek SoftLock 2006" and then click "Uninstall/Change". Select "Remove" -> Next -> Yes.
  3. Extract the "NSLFixer2006.zip" file attached and copy it to any folder on your computer. If your email provider or firewall software has blocked this file, you can also download it from our webdrive. Use this link:

    The tool "NSLFixer2006.exe" is under Allgemein/Nemslock

    (click on the right hand side next to file size on the three dots and chose 'herunterladen')

  4. Start NSLFixer2006.exe by double-clicking it.
    Important note:
    If you are running Windows Vista or a newer operating system, click the program with the right mouse button and select "Run as administrator". Confirm the following message.
  5. Create the key by clicking "Generate/Enter a key" (1).

  6. Select the line to the right of "Generate/Enter a key" (2), "1F02E74917D3F6E7348C1F02E74917D35E2599A254864A233C549A25ADD2EDFD", for example, and press "Ctrl+C". Paste this key into an email and send it to "support.de@allplan.com".
  7. We will send you another key. Please copy this key to the second line (3). If you need to restart the program, paste the key you created into the first line (see step 3, do not click "Generate/Enter a key" again!). Then click "Validate twin key" (4). After you have done this, you should see the following message: "System cleaned. Reinstall NemSLock".
  8. Update your current Allplan version. Use the temporary license file ("psd" can be found in its file name). You can also find your current temporary licenses at www.connect.allplan.com. Go to "Profile -> License administration".
    Students should use the Allplan Setup program which they can download from Allplan Campus (http://www.allplan-campus.com -> log on -> select "Software" at the top -> download Allplan). Use the trial license provided by Setup.



After this, request a new license by sending a new registration request (Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager). Select the license entry for your seat and click "Request license".
If you work with a license server, reconnect the client with the server.

Moving NemSLock Server to a new server

Question:

How can I move NemSLock Server to a new server?



Answer:

Reinstalling NemSLock Server

  • Select one of the temporary license files for NemSLock server (for example, 1234567a_001_psd.nslsrv). These licenses are valid for 30 days. However, each license includes only one seat of each configuration purchased. The full number of seats purchased will be available to you as soon as you have installed the registered licenses (see below). If you purchased a configuration for one seat only, you will, of course, receive only one temporary license.
  • When you opt for the “Custom” setup type, you can choose between the following program features:
    Console
    You can use this program to administer NemSLock Server. The console can be installed on several workstations. This way, you can administer the server from a number of different locations. However, you can only connect one console to the server at any one time.
    Server
    The actual license server.
    Logviewer
    This tool analyzes the log files of NemSLock Server.
    User List Generator
    You can use this tool to create the users for NemSLock Server from a text file or based on a server.
    By default, Setup installs all these features.
  • If your license includes configurations for several seats, you need to install the additional temporary license files for NemSLock server after the installation (see below).


Transferring the user administration from the old server (if users are available)

  • You can find the user administration in the program folder of the license server. Copy the "users.mcf" file to the program folder of the new license server.
  • Stop the license server service on the new server before you copy the file. To do this, start the "stopService.bat" program, which is also in the program folder of the license server.
  • After copying, start the license server service again. To do this, use the "startService.bat" program.


Returning the registered licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console on the old server by clicking the icon on the desktop or Start -> (All) Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Stop server".
  • Click "Modules".
  • Click "Transfer license permanently".
  • Confirm the following dialog boxes. Click “Browse”.Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the hcws-format file. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.Send this file by email to register@nemetschek.de.
  • We will send you an email, confirming that we have received the licenses.
  • You always have to return all licenses.
  • After you have done this, they are only valid for two more days.


Registering the license(s) on the new server

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console on the new license server.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Select the seat you want to register. If your license contains configurations for several seats, read the notes further down.
  • Click "Registration request (register.txt)".
  • Click "Edit".
  • Fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because the registered license file will be sent to this address (and not to the address of the person who sent the registration request!). Click OK to confirm.
  • Click "Create registration request".Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the "register.txt" file. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.Send the registration request by email to register@nemetschek.de.


If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must send a separate registration request for each seat. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.

How to install licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Stop server" on the left.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Click ”Browse” to navigate to the registered license file.
  • Click "Install license file".
  • After this, you can start the server again by clicking "Start server".


Configuring the clients

  • Now you need to change each client to the new license server.
  • Click Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
  • If the license server window is hidden, click "Configure NemSLock Server"at the bottom. It is a good idea to lock this window. All you need to do is click the drawing pin icon.
  • Enter the computer name or IP address of the license server in the empty box. Then click the "Update” icon to the right.
  • Now the user can select one of the seats provided. Click "Close" to complete the configuration. Now you can start Allplan.
  • After having successfully connected to the license server, clear the check boxes for the trial licenses in the area at the top.


Notes:

  • If a user selects several configurations for a seat and starts Allplan, the license server will provide the required licenses; in other words, starting Allplan once might require two licenses. Consequently, fewer licenses are available to other users.
  • 2014-1 and later: If the latest version of License Manager is installed (file version 1. 0. 26. 153 or later, see License Manager- Options- System), you can also select several licenses. If one of the selected licenses is currently being used by someone else, the program will automatically select the next available license.
  • Clients communicate with the server by TCP/IP via port 10977. So you need to configure the firewall accordingly.
  • The license server and the licenses are downward compatible; they can be used in conjunction with older Allplan versions.

Quality Reporter - graphics card driver causes crash

Information:

Quality reporter notified us of a crash. In analyzing the data, we found that you can improve the stability of your Allplan installation by installing the current graphics card driver.

Use the driver on the homepage of the manufacturer. Do not use the driver provided by Windows Update.

Notes for notebook users:
It is essential that you install the graphics card drivers provided by the notebook manufacturer! You can find the current drivers on the homepage of the manufacturer.


Notes:

  • If the program still crashes after you have installed the latest graphics card driver, change the graphics mode from OpenGL to GDI+ in Allplan.

    Allplan 2012-1 and later:
    Start Allplan and select Tools -> Options.
    Select Desktop environment -> Display > Hardware acceleration - graphics area: switch off the "Use OpenGL for all viewports" option. Restart Allplan.

    From Allplan 2011-1 to Allplan 2012-0-2:
    Start the Services application.
    Service -> Hotline Tools -> draw -> OK
    On = OpenGL mode
    Off = GDI+ mode

Repairing .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8

How can I fix bugs in Microsoft .NET Framework components?


Note:

This is a Windows problem. The procedure described is not supported by Allplan. You do this at your own risk.
If you are not sure, give these instructions to your system administrator.

Online repairing of .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8

Microsoft provides a repair tool for fixing .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8.

Download the “NetFxRepairTool.exe” file and save it to any folder on the hard drive of your computer; for example, C:\Repair_NetFramework.
Run the repair tool by right-clicking the “NetFxRepairTool.exe” file and selecting “Run as administrator” on the shortcut menu. By doing this, you can bypass Windows User Account Control.
Click “Yes” at the following prompts.
Follow the instructions of the repair tool.

After the repair routine is complete, a log shows you whether fixing .NET Framework has been successful.


Offline repairing of .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8

Download the “NetFxRepairTool.exe” file from

In addition, download the necessary resources for fixing .NET Framework.
You can download these files from the support site of Microsoft; go to "Offline support".

Download the two files and save them to any new folder on the hard drive of your computer; for example, C:\Repair_NetFramework.




Open the Command Prompt window as an administrator.

Enter the following commands one after another. Confirm each command by selecting Enter.

cd\ [Enter]

cd Repair_NetFramework [Enter]

NetfxRepairTool.exe /addsource C:\Repair_NetFramework [Enter]




The tool repairs .NET Framework.

After the repair routine is complete, a log shows you whether fixing .NET Framework has been successful.


If this does not repair .NET Framework on your computer, try the .NET Framework cleanup tool on the support site of Microsoft.

Sophos Antivirus prevents the installation of Hotfix 2017-1-6

Question:

Why does the autoupdate of hotfix 2017-1-6 break down at about 80% installation progress? In use is Sophos antivirus.


Answer:

Sophos Antivirus incorrectly detects the Allplan Hotfix as ransomware and blocks the installation. But there is no real threat.


Here are two possible solutions:
In any case, stop the installation of the hotfix by using Task Manager


Solution 1:

When you install the Allplan Hotfix, stop the Sophos Anti-Virus program. An administrator password is necessary in normal cases.


Solution 2:

Download Allplan 2017-1-6 manually as a full download.
You can do this via Allplan Connect at:

Upgrading Allplan 2017 with a license server

Question:

How to upgrade from Allplan 2016 to Allplan 2017 in conjunction with a license server?


Answer:

Start by updating your license(s) at the license server. After this, upgrade the clients.

Check the version of the license server. If you use the license server 2016-1-4 or later, you can find the version number (Build-ID) at bottom left in the License Settingsprogram. The version number should be at least 1.614.x.x. If you cannot see the Build-ID, you work with an older license server. In this case, update the license server first. Download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect or from our FTP server:

Start the new License Server Setupon the server or computer you use as the license server. Right-click the *.exe file and select 'Run as administrator' on the shortcut menu.

  • Click Install.
  • Click Exit.

After this, update the license(s).

  • Start the License Settingsprogram on the server.
  • Click License activationon the left. Then click the license you want to update.
  • The 'Update license' function is now available.
  • Click Update license.
  • If you have more licenses for the license server, repeat these steps.



You can then upgrade Allplan at the clients. Start Setup and follow the instructions displayed. The license server license will be detected automatically on the network. When you are prompted to select the license file, click 'Use active license'. Follow the installation instructions.


Note: You can only use an existing license server to update licenses. If you want to use a new license server with Allplan 2017 or if you have not yet installed a license server, read the following instructions:

Upgrading licenses at NemSLock license server

Question:

What license issues do I need to consider when upgrading from Allplan 2013, or 2014 to Allplan 2015 in conjunction with the NemSLock license server?



Answer:

Do the following:


Upgrading licenses using NemSLock license server

To open NemSLock 2006 Server Console, click the icon on the desktop or select Start -> (All) Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
Click "Modules" on the left.
Select the seat you want to register. If your license includes configurations for several seats, you need to send a separate registration request for each seat. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You need to install each file you get (see below).
Click the “Registration request (register.txt)” button.
Click “Create registration request”. Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the registration file. Now you can use all the options provided in Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet connection etc..
Send this email with the registration request to the following address: register@nemetschek.de.


Use the Console to install the license files you receive:
Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
Click “Stop server” on the left.
Click "Modules" on the left.
Click ”Browse” to navigate to the registered license file.
Click “Install license file”.
After this, you can start the server again by clicking “Start server”.




Upgrading Allplan


After you have upgraded the license, open the License Manager by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager.
Select only an available license for Allplan 2015 in the License Manager (displayed as Allplan (30) by an older version of License Manager).
Upgrade Allplan to version 2015.
Select “Existing license file” when Setup prompts you for the license. The license driver is installed afterwards.
Then Setup checks whether you have selected a license for Allplan 2015. If this is so, Setup continues and installs Allplan 2015.
If there are problems with the existing license during the upgrade, you can also use your current temporary client license.
If you haven't your latest license available you can download it from connect.allplan.com. After login choose license management under Profile.
Then switch the clients to the license server and select only the new license from the license server.

Vulkan-1.dll is not found after Windows updates

Question:

Allplan no longer starts after a Windows update. A message appears stating that: Vulkan-1.dll cannot be found. How can the problem be solved?



Answer:

If the Allplan Setup was unpacked in your local default path during installation, you can access the contents. At
C:\Benutzer\Öffentlich\Öffentliche Dokumente\Allplan 2020\ISSetupPrerequisites\{E9D9A080-CAE1-4890-88C9-E403DDB4D156}
is the VulkanRT-1.1.106.0-Installer.exe file.

Alternatively, you can find the file at: https://webdrive.allplan.com/s/4LrjrymoxESzC6p
in the following folder.
/General/Tools/Vulkan/
(Click on the three dots to the right of the file size and select download).

Execute this file bypassing the user account control by clicking with the right mouse button on the file VulkanRT-1.1.106.0-Installer.exe -> Execute as administrator.
The problem should then be solved and Allmenu and Allplan should start correctly again.



Hint:

VulkanRT is used from Allplan 2020 for addressing the graphics card. Allplan 2019 does not use this technology and is therefore not affected by the problem.
The error message appears both when starting the Allmenu, when creating a support request via the Hotinfo and when starting Allplan 2020.
Allplan_2020.exe appears in the task manager for a short time. The process is then terminated again

Toolbar icons and crosshairs disappear

Question:

Why do the toolbar icons and crosshairs disappear?



Answer:

As the on-screen display is filtered by the vertical synchronization of the Nvidia driver, the toolbar icons and crosshairs disappear after some time. This problem often occurs when you switch from the layout editor to drawing file edit mode.

To solve this problem, you need to permanently switch off vertical synchronization in the Nvidia Control Panel. Start by installing the latest Nvidia graphics card driver, which you can find at the following link:

Install the driver with administrator privileges and restart the computer after the installation.

To switch off vertical synchronization in the driver, do the following:

Click on the desktop with the right mouse button -> Nvidia Control Panel-> 3D Settings-> Manage 3D Settings.

Scroll down in the settings of the global profile of the Nvidia driver and set "Vertical Synchronization" to "Off". Then click "Apply".

Now vertical synchronization is no longer used, and the icons and crosshairs stay visible.


Note:

Vertical synchronization is not required for other programs such as Excel or Powerpoint.
But it is useful for games, movies or 3D objects that move quickly.

Switching the license server from hardlock to NemSLock

Question:

How can I switch the license server from hardlock to NemSLock?



Answer:

How to register licenses

  • Click "Licenses" on the left.
  • Select the seat you want to register. If your license contains several configurations, please see the notes further down.
  • Click "Registration request (register.txt)".
  • Click "Edit".
  • You must fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because the registered license file will be sent to this address (and not to the address of the person who sent the registration request!). Click OK to confirm.
  • Click “Send”. The standard email program installed on your computer opens, and the registration file is attached to the email.
    Send this email with the registration request to the following address: register@nemetschek.de.


Notes:

  • If the email program does not start or you computer does not have Internet access, you can also send the register.txt file manually to Allplan. Click “Browse”. Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the registration file. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.
  • If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must send a separate registration request for each seat. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.
  • The registered licenses you receive by email are valid for 14 days, starting from the day of registration. Please return the dongle within this period of 14 days. As soon as we have received the dongle, we will send you the unlimited licenses.


How to install licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click “Stop server” on the left.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Click ”Browse” to navigate to the registered license file.
  • Click “Install license file”.
  • You can then start the server again by clicking “Start server”.


How to set up users
You do not need to enter a user for the license server version on the Allplan 2009 (Build 50) DVD or later. In this case, every user can do everything: retrieve licenses, check out licenses and manage data using the console. If you want to limit these options or if you are working with an older version of NemSLock Server, you need to set up users.

There are two options: Both options are described in detail in "Installing and configuring NemSLock Server". This section shows how to use the Server Console to set up users directly.

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click “Users” on the left.
  • Create a new user by clicking the “New user” button. In addition to the Windows user name, you need to enter a description of the user. You can also assign administrator privileges for the license server to the user and grant him/her the right to temporarily export licenses from the license server. Furthermore, you can limit the seats the user can select. To do this, click "Seats". Otherwise, the user can select any license.


Be careful:

  • As long as you have not appointed an administrator, each user can manage the license server using the console, including users who are not entered in the console.
  • The Windows user "administrator" is not a special user; in other words, when one or more users have been appointed administrators, this user can no longer start the console for this license server.
  • Only registered users can retrieve licenses from the license server using a client.
  • You can enter users in the “Users.mcf” file. If the license server service is terminated, the file deleted and the service started again, each user can again use the console to manage the license server.


How to install and configure clients

  • Use one of the nslock license files you received to install the clients. Do not use the trial license or the license server license. It is irrelevant which of the client licenses you use, as the actual license will come from the license server later.
  • You do not need to register the clients.
  • When switching from Hardlock to NemSLock (server), you need to update the client using a nslock license file.


After having installed the client, you need to switch to the license server:

  • Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager
  • If the license server window is hidden, click "Server" at the bottom. It is a good idea to lock this window. All you need to do is click the drawing pin icon.
  • Enter the computer name or IP address of the license server in the empty box. Then click the "Update” icon to the right.

How to set up users (optional)

  • predefined user ALLis created automatically. If there is no other user, each user is given the privileges of the user ALL. By default, this user can use all licenses but cannot check out any licenses. By double-clicking the user, you can change the user's privileges.
  • predefined user ALLallows all users to use licenses. In order to do this, the users must be able to access the server. You do not need to create individual user profiles until you want to assign specific rights to individual users or limit access to selected users. predefined user ALL. If you want to work only with individual users, you should deactivate the predefined user ALL by revoking the user's right to use licenses.
  • predefined user ALL has administrator privileges unless another user is created and appointed as the administrator. As soon as you have appointed an administrator, ALL no longer has administrator privileges.
  • You can enter users in the “Users.mcf” file. predefined user ALL has administrator privileges again. In addition, each user can once again administer the license server using the console.
  • The administrator user is not a special user. If there are several administrator users, only one administrator user can start the console for this license server at any one time.
  • If you are setting up users without giving administrator privileges to anyone, the program will ask you whether you want to appoint yourself as the administrator.


You can also specify a domain (user authentication for Windows server). However, this is not mandatory. If you do not specify a domain, the program uses the Windows user name for each user.

The program writes the user accounts and the associated access rights as ASCII text to the users.mcf file.

You can find this file in the \Programs folder of the NemSLock Server installation. You cannot rename, delete or move this file. If the program can no longer connect to this file, you must exit NemSLock Server, restart it and enter all users again from scratch. predefined user ALLis retained.

Printing with Windows printer drivers is only possible in a restricted way or not possible at all.



Solution:

Resetting all the files with the default values in question involves several steps.
Work through these steps one after the other and check whether the problem is solved after each step.

Step 1

Check whether you can print a test page.
Start -> Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> select the printer -> Printer properties -> General tab -> Print Test Page.

If you can print the test page but you still cannot print from Allplan -> step 2.

Step 2

Carry out the cleanprint hotline tool.
Exit Allplan, start the Services application and do the following:
Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> cleanprint -> OK

If the problem still occurs -> step 3

Step 3

Reset the plastw.dat file.
Exit Allplan, start the Services application and do the following:
Service -> Hotline Tools -> cleanstd: resets CAD defaults -> OK

Installation options during Setups

Upgrade - program update with transfer of all project data, office and user settings.
The existing Allplan installation is upgraded to version 2023. If several Allplan versions are installed, only the latest version will be suggested for upgrade.  Projects, office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2020/2021/2022 to Allplan 2023. Allplan 2020/2021/2022 is then no longer available.

New installation without transfer of project data, office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are not transferred to version 2023. You can import projects after installation using the following Allplan function:
New project, open-> Import projects.

New installation with transfer of office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2020/2021/2022 to version 2023. In the case of multiple installed Allplan versions, only the most current version is suggested for transfer. If you have installed with a central file store, make sure that you create a folder with a suitable share on your central file store (server) beforehand. This folder can then be selected as the "central file storage folder" during setup. You can import projects after installation with the following Allplan function:
Project new, open-> Import projects.



Depending on the licensing system you use, you need to consider different points.

There is no license request when installing Allplan 2023. Therefore, make sure in advance that your licenses are also suitable for this version, e.g. by purchase or a valid service contract.


1. Upgrade Allplan 2023 – stand-alone workstation

Your license for Allplan 2023 will be updated after installation, when you start Allplan 2023 for the first time. Start Allplan 2023 and you will be prompted to update the license. 2. Upgrading Allplan 2023 with a license server

Start by updating your license(s) at the license server. After this, upgrade the clients. To do this, start the License Settings program on the server. Click License Activation on the left, and then click the license you want to update. Click Update License.
After the license(s) update, you can perform the Allplan upgrade installation on the client computers.

NOTE: Check the version of your installed license server on the server. Starting with the license server version 2016-1-4, the detailed version status (Build-ID) is displayed directly in the lower left corner of the License Settings program.
At least version 1.1196.xxx.xxx should be displayed here. If an older Build ID is displayed, then you still have an older license server in use. In any case, please update your license server. Download the software for the license server from the Allplan Connect service portal. You can fix Allplan program data by renaming the program folders and installing an update.
Due to the new names, Allplan cannot find the resources during the update. Consequently, it creates new resources.

To fix Allplan program data, do the following:

You need the latest installation package for your version.
You can download this package from Allplan Connect (www.connect.allplan.com)
Copy the zip file to the local computer and unzip the file.

  • Open the Services application of the Allplan version you want to fix.
  • Select Service -> Windows Explorer -> CAD program folder.
  • Rename the "PRG" folder "PRG_OLD". If Windows Explorer tells you that a file is still in use, restart the computer and try again.
  • Start the *.exe file of the installation package you just unzipped.
  • Select "Update installation".
  • When Setup prompts you for the license, select "Current license file" or "Use active license".
  • Select "Minimum" for the Setup type.



Allplan gets new program resources during installation.
As soon as the installation is complete, you can test how Allplan behaves.

If you are not sure, give these instructions to your system administrator.

Check the following points:

1. Current version
Make sure you work with the current Allplan version.

  • Do the following or ask your system administrator to do this:
    Open Allplan and click the ‘?’ icon in the upper right-hand corner. Click ‘Update Allplan’.
    Select 'Find now'. If Allplan finds updates or hotfixes, download the installation packages.
  • Deactivate the virus scanner while your are installing updates or hotfixes. This might require administrator privileges. Contact your system administrator if you have problems.
  • Right-click the Allplan icon on the desktop. A shortcut menu opens.
    Select ‘Run as administrator’ and click ‘Yes’ to confirm the following message.
    As a result, Windows security settings do not block the installation.

Start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select ‘Hotline Tools’. To save your settings, select the following tools.

- savestd: Saves user defaults.
- savereg: Saves CAD registry settings.

Start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select the following ‘Hotline Tools’:

- cleanup: Initializes the display.
- cleanstd: Resets CAD defaults.
- cleanreg: Resets CAD registry settings.

Check whether this has solved the problems.
If this is not so, restore the settings you just saved. To do this, start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select the following ‘Hotline Tools’:

4. Color scheme selected in Allplan:
Start Allplan, open the ‘View’ menu, point to ‘Toolbars’ and select ‘Customize User Interface’. Open the ‘Customize’ tab and set ‘Color scheme and icon design’ to ‘Windows’.


5. Check the availability of all projects that are not online (if you use Workgroup Manager):
Start Allplan, open the ‘File’ menu and select ‘New Project, Open Project’. Deactivate ‘Check availability of all offline projects’.


6. Virus scanner
Check whether an anti-virus program is running in the background of the computer or server.
If so, reduce protection to "programs only".

Scanning "all files" can take a long time, considerably slowing down your computer when you switch between projects or exit the program.
You can exclude the Allplan installation folders from real-time scanning.When you start the Services application, you can see a list of the folders to be excluded.

7. Aero desktop effects
Deactivate the Aero desktop effects of Windows.
To do this, open the Control Panel, select ‘Ease of Access’ and go to the ‘Make things on the screen easier to see’ area.
Select the ‘Turn off all unnecessary animations (when possible)’ option.


8. Name resolution on the network
If Allplan takes several minutes to start, name resolution on the network may not work.
To check this, do the following:
Right-click the Windows Start Button, select ‘Run’, type in ‘cmd’, click OK, type in ‘Nslookup’ and press ENTER.
Go to the line following the > character, type in the name of the Allplan data server and press ENTER.
The reply starts with the name and address of the server providing name resolution.
You can find the name and address of the Allplan data server in the second group.
If problems occur, contact your network administrator and ask him or her to configure name resolution correctly.


9. Speed of Allplan projects
Check whether some Allplan projects are slower than other Allplan projects.
Start with the empty project and check whether it is slow too.
After this, select any other Allplan project.

If it is only the current project that is slow, the problem may be caused by the data of the current project.
In this case, the data of this project must be analyzed in detail.

10. Network: checking out Allplan using Workgroup Manager
If you use Allplan with Workgroup Manager, you can check whether the problems are caused by the network. To do this, check out the workstation with the project in question and use the project on the local Allplan workstation.
You can find detailed information on checking out an Allplan workstation using Workgroup Manager in the
Services application. Open the ‘Help’ and select ‘Workgroup Manager’.

After you have checked out the workstation, Allplan no longer accesses the central file storage of the server.
If this has solved the problems, they are caused by the network. In this case, the network must be checked in detail.
Contact your network administrator and ask him or her to do this.

If the project is still slow, the problem may be caused by the data of the current project.
In this case, the data of this project must be analyzed in detail.

11. Log files and system information files
If all the points above do not solve the problems, technical support requires more system information about the computer running Allplan.

  • So, we would be grateful if you could send us a support request (Allplan Hotinfo with Allplan logging).
    To create a support request, start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select ‘Create support request (Hotinfo)’.
    Several dialog boxes open. Select ‘Technical Support Allplan’ and ‘Enquiry with Allplan logging’. Enter all the data required. Finally, click ‘Finish’.
    Another dialog box opens, prompting you to start Allplan. Click the ‘Start Allplan’ button.
    Allplan starts, logging all processes.
    Try to reproduce the problem as exactly as possible.
    Exit Allplan as soon as possible, reducing the data in the log file to a minimum.

  • To analyze the Windows system environment, we would ask you to send us the logs created by Windows Event Viewer of your computer.
    To start Windows Event Viewer, right-click the Windows Start Button, select ‘Run’ and type in ‘eventvwr.msc’.

Question:

How can the complete setup be downloaded from version Allplan 2023?


Response:

As of version 2023, Allplan is installed via Minimal Installer, which downloads only those components that are actually required for the installation case.
If, for example, the complete installation package with all optional components is required for rolling out the setup, it can be downloaded via layout mode.

To do this, run the setup with the command line parameter "layout" and the desired download path.
To do this, download the installation package from Allplan Connect as usual. 
Create a folder locally, e.g. C:\AllplanSetup. Unpack the installation package and copy the Allplan_2023_x_x_Installer.exe into this folder.
Then start the command prompt or Windows PowerShell in the path of the already downloaded installation exe. (e.g.: Allplan_2023_0_0_Installer.exe).
Run the installation with the parameter.
The syntax is as follows:
[PathSetupExe] -layout [PathDownload].

Example:

C:\AllplanSetup\Allplan_2023_0_0_Installer.exe -layout C:\AllplanSetup\.

After starting the setup using this parameter, the installation progress window appears as usual. However, no installation is performed.
The successful download is confirmed accordingly in the dialog after completion.

The setup can now be executed by double-clicking the already existing installation.exe (e.g.: Allplan_2023_0_0_Installer.exe).

as announced in September 2022 we have revised and modernized the current Allplan Exchange Online service.
Now it's time to "move". In this email we explain what this means for you.

The switch to the new Allplan Exchange Online service will take place all day on Monday, 24rd of April 2023.

 

The web address of Allplan Exchange remains unchanged: https://exchange.allplan.com

IMPORTANT information:

  • The existing Allplan Exchange Online service will be stopped on the day of the transition (no read access), your plan and project data, as well as all verified user data, will be migrated by us to the new Allplan Exchange Online service.
  • Use of the new Allplan Exchange Online service will only be possible in conjunction with Allplan version 2023.
  • We will send you a reminder email one week before the transition day so that you can make backups if necessary and plan the upgrade to Allplan version 2023.
  • Older Allplan versions will no longer have a connection to the new Allplan Exchange Online service after the switch.
  • After the transition, your Exchange account will have the same password as all our Allplan online services (e.g. Connect, Bimplus, Learn Now, etc. ).

 

 

 

What do you need to do actively?

  • Please perform an Allplan upgrade to Allplan 2023 after the transition date.
  • In the upgrade setup, please use the option " The program will be updated; all project data,
    office settings, and user settings will be transferred
    ".
    This is the only way we can ensure the continuous history of your online planning data.

Further information:

  • The product name "Allplan Exchange" will remain.
  • For data protection reasons, we will only transfer the minimum amount of personal data to the new Allplan Exchange Online service.
  • Only the data entered online will be considered during the transition.
  • The Exchange offline function is not affected by this changeover.
  • Only confirmed user accounts will be transferred to the new system.
  • E-mails sent from the old Allplan Exchange Online service and the download links they contain will no longer work after the transition. Instead, the new Allplan Exchange Online service has the Inbox, which contains an overview of all delivered plan data.
  • Even after the transition, the familiar workflows from the old Allplan Exchange Online service remain in place.
  • The desktop Chrome browser is the preferred browser for an optimized experience using the new Allplan Exchange at this time, but the application is available through other browsers and on mobile devices (but not optimized just yet)

How do you back up your online data from Allplan Exchange?

 

 

 

Answer:

 

Do you want to create a local backup of the current plan files from your online data on Allplan Exchange?

 

Prerequisite:
Check if you have the project access rights "manage" or "distribute" in the desired project.

 

Now you can use these options for your backup:

  • A) On the one hand you can create a plan dispatch list in PDF and EXEL format, so you have an overview of all plan files and their dispatch, as well as their sender and recipient per project.
  • B) And you can download the current plan data online yourself with a few clicks.

Installing and configuring the license server

Question:

I purchased the license server. How can I install and configure the license server?



Answer:

Allplan is using since version 2016 a new protection system. Licensing is based on CodeMeter by Wibu Systems AG since then. You can no longer use NemSLock Server with Allplan 2016 and higher.

Allplan requires a Product Key. Using this key, you can activate your license online. The Product Key is a unique, 26-digit character string. You can use it to activate a license for Allplan.
You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect. Go to http://connect.allplan.com/license
Note: The license is downwards compatible til version Allplan 2016-1-4 even if a higher version is displayed.



To install the license server, download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect


The Wibu license server is part of the CodeMeter driver, which is installed along with Allplan. If you have already installed Allplan on the license server, you do not have to install additional software. But you can also install the license server separately; you do not have to install Allplan.
In any case, install and activate the license server before you install Allplan on the clients.

You can activate a license in online mode only if you have ...

  • Internet access
  • a Product Key
  • a license server license; you cannot use other licenses with the license server.




Installing the license server

  • You must install the license server on a 64-bit Windows system.
  • Start License Server Setup on the computer you want to use as the license server.
  • Click Install.
  • Start the license server by starting the License Settings program. Go to the License activation area, enter your Product Key and click Activate license.
  • If you have more licenses for the license server, enter the respective Product Keys and activate the licenses.
  • Afterwards, start CodeMeter Control Center.

To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen: enter Codemeter and press ENTER. A dialog box opens. Click WebAdmin at bottom right.

Or
Enter Localhost:22350in the address bar of your browser.

  • Select Configuration -> Server -> Access server in the Network server area and click Activate.
  • Click Apply.



Configuring the license server (optional)

You can use the CodeMeter WebAdmin application to administer the license server.
To start and stop the license server service, you can use CodeMeter Control Center.

  • CodeMeter Control Center -> Action -> Start or Stop CodeMeter Service


Access control
By default, all users on the LAN, who have installed the CodeMeter driver, can use a license from the license server.

  • Basic access control: you can enter a list of client computer names or IP addresses that are allowed to access the license server.
  • Advanced access control: you can specify global access rules (for all licenses) to control access to the licenses.


License tracking
To activate license tracking, you have to set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIBU-SYSTEMS\CodeMeter\Server\CurrentVersion\LogLicenseTracking registry entry to 1 and restart CodeMeter Service.

After having activated this key, you can use CodeMeter WebAdmin to create a report showing details about the licenses used over a specific period of time. To do this, open CodeMeter WebAdmin and go to the 'Server' - 'License Tracking' page. Select the period of time and the license for which you want to generate a report. Then click 'Create report'. If you click a single bar, you will get detailed analyses per day or per hour.

CodeMeter WebAdmin saves the reports to C:\ProgramData\CodeMeter\Logs.



Installing and configuring clients

Usually the license server license will be detected automatically in the network.
Install Allplan on the clients. There is no license druing setup necessary.
Follow the installation instructions.

  • You do not need to activate the clients.


Allplan automatically finds the license server on the local network. If you have not selected a license, Allplan automatically selects the first available license.

After having installed Allplan on the clients, you can use the 'License Settings' dialog boxto check and configure license selection.
Services application -> Utilities -> License settings

Areas:

  • License activation: this area is not relevant to clients taking their license from the license server.
  • License selection: use this section if you get the license from a license server or if you have several licenses and you want to select the preferred license.
  • Start as a viewer: click this button if you want to start Allplan as a viewer.



License selection

You can see the names of the available licenses with their seat numbers.
The 'Available' column indicates how many licenses are still available. Click the dropdown arrow to see a list of users currently working with a license.

Priority:
Select the check box in front of a license to select this license as a favorite. You can mark as many licenses as you want. Allplan will then prefer these licenses. Click to select one ore more licenses Allplan is not to use. If you do not select any license or if you have selected several favorites, Allplan will automatically use the first free license it finds.

Find license server automatically:
When you select this option, Allplan automatically detects a license server on the LAN. In some cases, such as VPN connections, Allplan may not be able to detect a server automatically. In this case, you can enter the server manually (see Additional server name).
Note: Only the Windows administrator can change this option.

Additional server name:
If 'Find license server automatically' is not active or Allplan has not automatically found a license server, you can manually enter the name or the IP address of the server. If 'Find license server automatically' is active, you can enter an additional server. After having entered the server name, click 'Update' to see the licenses of the license server. Use semicolons to separate several server names.


Note:

You can find detailed information on the license server in the License Settings help (F1 key).

Allplan communicates with the license server via TCP/IP. By default, communication is via Port 22350 unless you change the port in CodeMeter WebAdmin.

If a firewall is active on your computer, you must enable port 22350 for TCP and UDP. If the firewall filters in an application-specific manner, you have to enable the CodeMeter.exe license server service. You can find this service in the %Program Files (x86)%\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin Windows folder. Define the CodeMeter.exe service as an exception in the firewall. Some anti-virus programs also include firewall functions. If you are not sure, contact the manufacturer of the anti-virus program.


License server - updating a license offline on the server

To update the license, you can use CodeMeter Control Center.

Start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. An an alternative, go to the Windows search box and type Codemeter.

You can find the container numbers in the ‘License’ area. Make sure your license container is included in this list.
For license server licenses, this is an Allplan CM6 container with the number 130-XXXXXXX.


Note:
If there is only an Allplan GmbH container with the number 128-XXXXXXX, your license server is too old. In this case, proceed as described here: https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20160527114300.html.


Select this Allplan CM6 container and click License updateon the right. Select Create license request. Create a *.WibuCmRaC file for your container.

Take this file to a computer that is online.

Go to the following web page:

Enter your Product Keyin the “Ticket” line and click Next. You can now see your license.
Click Activate license.


You can see the new license update, which is selected. Click Offline License Transferat the bottom on the right.

You can now upload the *.WibuCmRaC file (Browse....) by clicking Upload license request now. This creates your license, which you can download by clicking Download license update file now. Install this license on your server.

To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centerand click File -> Importlicense.
You can now see the updated license in the license settings.



Finally, upload the receipt file.
To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centeragain and select the Allplan CM6 container with the number 130-XXXXXXX.

Then click License update -> Next -> Create receipt.
Create the receipt file for this container.

Take this file to a computer that is online.

Upload this receipt file using the web page.
Click Nexton the web page.
If you have already closed the web page, use the link given above and enter your Product Key once again. Then select Continue with license transfer.
Select the receipt file and click Upload receipt now.
Click OKto confirm. This completes license activation.


If you have several license server licenses, all these licenses can be in the same Allplan CM6 container. However, you must upload the license update fileand upload the receiptfor each Product Key or license to update all licenses.



Notes:

  • You cannot use Allplan Connect to update licenses. However, you can activate licenses offline for the first time or return licenses using Allplan Connect.
  • Did you know that you can find details about you licenses in Allplan Connect at http://connect.allplan.com/license. Just load the details about the licenses displayed by clicking the information button at the end of a line.

If you are using an Allplan license server, the Codemeter Control Center program is not only available on every Allplan client, but also on the server running the Allplan license server.

Question:

Although the server is not connected with the Internet, I would like to activate the license with the Product Key for the license server. What can I do?

Information:

The easiest way to activate and return Allplan licenses is to do this online. In other words, the server has Internet access. However, you can also activate your license on a computer without Internet access (offline licensing).

Requirements for activating a license offline:

  • You have a valid Product Key.
  • The license server is installed on the server. At least license server 2016-1-5 is installed.
    You can find detailed information on the version (Build-ID) at bottom on the left in the License Settings program.
  • You have another computer with Internet access.


Important: Activating a license offline involves two steps. In addition, you need to upload a receipt file so that you can return the license offline later.

There are the following basic steps:

  • Creating and uploading the license request file
  • Downloading and importing the license update file
  • Creating and uploading the receipt file


If you have several license server licenses, you need to do this for each license.

As both the license file and the receipt file are saved with the name of the container number by default, it may happen that you mix up these two files. Select the empty Allplan CM6container (long number starting with 130; gray symbol).
If the container is not available, save the file attached to the C:\Program Files\Allplan GmbH\License Settings folder. Then open this file using the shortcut menu. This imports the empty container to CodeMeter Control Center.

Select the new, empty Allplan CM6 container and click Activate licenseon the right. Select Create license request. Create a *.WibuCmRaC file for this container.


Take this file to a computer that is online. Go to the following web page:

Enter your Product Keyin the “Ticket” line and click Next. You can now see your license. Click Activate license.

Next, select the Fimcode 6000100area on the right.

You can see your license with all available updates. Make sure everything is selected. Click Offline License Transferat the bottom on the right.

You can now upload the *.WibuCmRaC file (Browse....) by clicking Upload license request now. This creates your license, which you can download by clicking Download license update file now. Install this license on your server.

To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centerand click File -> Importlicense.


The activated license is now visible in the License settingsand can be used for the Allplan clients.


Finally, upload the receipt file.
To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centeragain and select the new Allplan CM6 container (with the number 130-XXXXXXX).
