Task:

In a network installation, in addition to the program folder located locally on the respective workstation computer, there is a central file storage folder on the data server via which all users can access the office standard and all projects.

How is a new installation of several Allplan workstations with a central file storage on a dedicated server carried out?
What are the requirements?
How is the workgroup manager installed if the license includes it?

1. Preparation

Server operating system or system requirements:

When selecting the data server to be used, please refer to our system requirements. We recommend
Windows Server 2022. Also check whether the system requirements are met on the clients and perform a system test on them.

We explicitly point out that NAS (Network Attached Storage) is only supported on the basis of Windows Storage Server.
DFS (Distributed File System) with Allplan is not supported; it can lead to crashes, deadlocks and deleted files.

Share structure

Allplan works with UNC path. This means that for a network installation, the central file storage on which Allplan 2022 is to be installed must have a folder that is shared by all computers with full access.
Before installing Allplan, create a folder on the server (e.g. Data) and share this folder with everyone with full access (e.g. as Data). Create an Allplan subfolder under it. (e.g., \Server\Data\Allplan). Point to this path during installation.

2. Installation on the first workstation:

Log on as administrator on the workstation where Allplan 2022 is to be installed.

Double-click AllplanSetup.exe in the folder that you used to unpack the installation package.
Confirm the welcome screen with Start setup. Confirm the terms of the software license agreement displayed in the following License Agreement dialog box by clicking Agree.
On the General tab of the Settings dialog box, select the country-specific settings to be installed under Select country and the language for the Allplan user interface under Select language.

Note: The country and language that are set for the operating system on the workstation in question are suggested. If the country and/or language are not recognized, English is used. Please avoid selecting unnecessary countries or languages, as this will greatly increase the data volume to be installed.

Now select the target paths in which the programs and files of Allplan 2022 are to be installed.

Program folder: Specify the folder for the program files. Normally, it is not necessary to change the folder suggested here. In any case, the program files must always be installed locally on each workstation.
Central file storage folder: Specify as the central file storage folder the folder created and shared on the data server as described in section 1. (e.g. \Server Data File Folder).

Click Install. The installation of Allplan 2022 is started.

Note: If the installation could not be completed successfully, you will receive a corresponding message. In this case, you will find the file Error Report of Allplan_Installer.zip in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp. The file contains important information that you can pass on to ALLPLAN GmbH Technical Support if you need to contact them.

In certain cases, you will be prompted to restart the computer after completing the installation of Allplan 2022. In this case, restart the computer and log in again after the restart as the local administrator or as a user with administrator rights.


2a. Installation with the Workgroup Manager option
(If your license does not include this option, go to step 3).

If your license includes the Workgroup Manager option, please proceed as follows before installing the other workstations.
Start Allplan 2022 once immediately after installing the first Allplan workstation in the network and then stop it again. Then activate the workgroup manager directly as follows.

To do this, start Allmenu 2022 on the first computer.
Call up Allplan Diagnostics. Allmenu->Service->Allplan Diagnostics
In Allplan Diagnostics, select the Settings tab and check "Workgroup Manager" in the Workgroup Settings area. Click on Set. The workgroup manager is now activated.

If the check mark for "Workgroup Settings" cannot be activated, it is because the central file storage folder "Net Path" is not entered in a UNC-compliant manner. (e.g.: \\Servername\Daten\Allplan). Change this if necessary. Under "Browse" the UNC name of the new server (e.g.: \\Servername) or the complete path (e.g.: \Servername) can be entered in the opening browser.
(e.g.: \\Servername\Daten\Allplan) and confirm with Enter. Select your central file storage folder and confirm with "OK".
Even if the central file storage folder is located locally on the same computer, the path must be entered as UNC address!

Exit Allplan Diagnostics by clicking Close.
Allmenu now additionally contains the Workgroupmanager menu.


2b. Creating the Allplan users

As a result of the initial installation, the installing Windows user is created in Allplan as a user with administrator rights. On the first installed workstation, create all other Windows users of the other workstations as Allplan users in the workgroup manager:

Allmenu -> Workgroupmanager -> Manage users -> Right click -> Create user.

Under "User name", a freely selectable Allplan user name with up to 8 characters in length can be assigned.
Under "Windows user name", the user name that the user uses when logging on to the computer must be specified.

Important: If the user logs on to the computer via a domain, this must also be specified under "Windows user name", e.g.: DOMAIN\User
Under "User group" the administration right can be granted:
Administrator" must be selected in the drop-down menu. Existing users can thus also be granted administration rights at a later date.


3. installation on the other workstations

Now install Allplan 2022 on all the other workstations as described above under "2. Installation on the first workstation". Enter the folder created and released in step 2 for the central file storage on the data server as the central file storage folder. (e.g. \Server DataAllplan).

Note: If the Workgroup Manager was activated after the first workstation was installed (see step 2a.), it is automatically activated on all other Allplan workstations installed in the same network by selecting the Central file storage folder.

Allplan on a terminal server

Question:

I want to run Allplan on a terminal server. Can I use any other terminal server than Citrix?



Answer:

Microsoft terminal server or Horizon is not approved for Allplan.
In addition, running Allplan on a terminal server requires an Allplan license server for managing the Allplan licenses.
If you have only used stand-alone licenses until now, you must purchase the additional ‘license server’ option. Should you have any questions, please contact your sales partner.


VM Ware (Horizon) or RDP is not approved for Allplan. This means that you do not get any support for this constellation.
You may not have any problems with the current Allplan version. However, future developments will not take RDP or VM Ware into account. Consequently, this functionality may be limited or not available at all in future Allplan versions.

Citrix is the only terminal server that is approved for Allplan.

Recover corrupt data

Question :

How do I recover corrupted/damaged files? How do I resolve the error messages ‘The loaded data is corrupt!’ and ‘Unable to read layer no???!’?

Answer :

It seems that your tb...XXX.ndw file or your pb...YYY.npl layout has been corrupted; this may have occurred as a result of an unexpected shutdown of allplan, a micro-cut in the network or the presence of corrupted 3D elements which cause an error when saving the current file.

The Allplan files concerned are :

  • Drawing file                      tb...XXX.ndw
  • Layout                              pb...YYY.npl

 


To access the folder containing these files, launch ALLMENU then click on ‘Maintenance’ then ‘Windows Explorer’ then on ‘Custom CAD Projects (PRJ)’.

Step 1 : You can check for the presence of a tb...XXX.ndw.bak or pb...YYY.npl.bak file; if it exists and is not too old, you can use it to start from this version: simply rename your tb...XXX.ndw file to tb...XXX.ndw.broken and then delete .bak from the file you want to use.


Note that ‘.bak’ files are not always present and are created randomly.

Step 2 : If you don't have one or it's too old, you can try recovering a backup of the tb...XXX.ndw or pb...YYY.npl file from your server or NAS: servers (or NAS) use different backup technologies; by opening the properties of the XXX or YYY file, and accessing the property tab, you can recover earlier versions:

Alternatively, you can contact your company's IT department to find out if you can recover a backup of your file. If you work on a server, it is not uncommon to be able to access daily or half-day backups.

Hint : The technical department is sometimes able to recover part of the file if you send it to us, but we cannot guarantee the status/success of this recovery.

Activating license offline (without Internet access)

Question:

My computer does not have Internet access, but I would like to activate the license with the Product Key. What can I do?


Information:

The easiest way to activate and return Allplan licenses is to do this online. In other words, the computer has Internet access. However, you can also activate Allplan on a computer without Internet access (offline licensing). Offline licensing is particularly useful if some Allplan computers in your office do not have Internet access and do not use a license server either.

If the computer without Internet access and the computer with Internet access are neither close to each other (for example, the computer in the office hasInternet access, but the computer at home does not haveInternet access) nor connected with each other (for example, using LAN), offline activation is not very suitable, as you have to access both the computer with Internet access and the computer without Internet access.

Requirements for activating a license offline:

  • You have a valid Product Key.
  • You have installed Allplan on the computer without Internet access (for example, as a viewer).
  • You have another computer with Internet access.


Important: Activating a license offline involves two steps. In addition, you need to upload a receipt file so that you can return the license offline later.

There are the following basic steps:

  • Creating and uploading the license request file
  • Downloading and importing the license update file
  • Creating and uploading the receipt file

Note:

As both the license file and the receipt file are saved with the name of the container number by default, it may happen that you mix up these two files. Therefore we strongly recommend that you use meaningful names for the files. For example, the name could include the name of the computer and the Product Key or the words “license” and “receipt”.
This is particularly important if you want to activate several computers offline.


Answer:

A: Activating licenses offline

To activate licenses, use CodeMeter Control Center.

Start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. An an alternative, go to the Windows search box and type Codemeter.

You can find the container numbers in the ‘License’ area.
If you have a stand-alone license, the name of this container is Allplan GmbH and its number is 327XXXXXXX.

Select this container and click Activatelicense on the right. Select
Create license request. Create a *.WibuCmRaC file for your container.

Take this file to a computer that is online.
Go to the following web page:
http://lc.codemeter.com/59885/depot/index.php

Enter your Product Keyin the “Ticket” line and click Next. You can now see your license.
Click Activate license.

You can see your license and all available updates, which should be selected. Click Offline License Transferat the bottom on the right.

You can now upload the *.WibuCmRaC file (Browse....) by clicking Upload license request now. This creates your license, which you can download by clicking Download license update file now. Install this license on your computer.

To do this, go to CodeMeter Control Center and click File-> Importlicense.


You can see the activated license in the Services application -> Utilities -> License settingsand you can now use this license for Allplan.


Finally, upload the receipt file.
To do this, open CodeMeter Control Centeragain and select the new Allplan GmbH license with the number 128-XXXXXXX.

Then click License update -> Next -> Create receipt.
Create the receipt file for this container.
Upload this receipt file using the web page.

Take this file to the computer that is online. Click Nexton the web page.
If you have already closed the web page, use the link given above and enter your Product Key once again. Then select Continue with license transfer.
Select the receipt file and click Upload receipt now.
Click OKto confirm. This completes license activation.




B: Returning licenses offline

You can return licenses in the same way:
Start CodeMeter Control Center and select the container with the license (Allplan GmbH with the number 128-XXXXXXX). Then click License update -> Next -> Create license request.
Here, too, create a *.WibuCmRaC file for your container.

Take this file to a computer that is online.
Here, too, go to the following web page:

Enter your Product Keyin the “Ticket” line and click Next. You can now see your license.
Click Move license.
Click Offline License Transferat the bottom on the right.
You can now upload the *.WibuCmRaC file (Browse....) by clicking Upload request now.
Then click Download license update file now. Download the file and import it. To do this, go to CodeMeter Control Centerand click File -> Importlicense.

Then create a receipt by clicking License update -> Next -> Create receipt.
Upload this receipt file using the web page.
To do this, click Nexton the web page.
If you have already closed the web page, use the link given above and enter your Product Key once again. Then select Continue with license transfer.
Select the receipt file and click Upload receipt now.
Click OKto confirm. This completes license activation.

The license is now available again and can be used on another computer.

Allplan silent installation from Allplan 2024-0

Question:

How is a silent installation of Allplan from version 2024 carried out?

Answer:

Allplan has been installed using the Windows Installer since version 2022.
The Windows Installer has a number of advantages such as repairability and providing installation on a network. Allplan can also be installed unattended (“quiet”) using the Windows Installer.

Please note that no individual support can be provided for this procedure.
If you are unsure, ideally have your IT service provider or administrator carry out these instructions.


The following steps are necessary:

1. Edit the settings file
The settings file attached to this FAQ must be edited in advance in order to select the desired program components.
Here is a description of the structure of the settings.txt file:

· Installation options:
Set the desired installation option:

New installation:
No data is transferred from the most current previous version.
Value to be entered:
Upgrade=Upgrade.UpgradeNew
 
New installation with data copy:
Allplan is installed parallel to the previous version and the data (with the exception of the projects) is copied. Projects can be transferred to Allplan itself after the installation has been completed.
Value to be entered:
Upgrade=Upgrade.UpgradeKeep
 
Upgrade:
The latest available Allplan version will be converted into the current version.
Upgrade=Upgrade.Upgrade
 
· Paths:
Enter the desired program folder under "InstallPath" and the desired central file storage folder for Allplan under "CentralPath",
When storing data in a network, be sure to use the CentralPath in UNC notation.

Example:
InstallPath=C:\Program Files\Nemetschek\Allplan_2024
CentralPath=\\SERVER\CAD_Daten\Allplan\Allplan_2024

Important:
In the case of an upgrade, be sure to specify the path of the previous version for "CentralPath".


· Countries and languages:
Select the countries and languages to install from the list of suggestions in the file.
Set the main country with "DefaultCountry" and the main language of the installation with "DefaultLanguage".
Add additional countries and/or languages if desired.
Wichtig: For a functional installation, the main country and language must be specified.

2. Storage of the installation and the settings file on a share (optional)
In order to be able to roll out the Allplan installation efficiently on all computers, it is recommended to store both the Allplan setup and the settings file on a share in the network to which all relevant computers have access. See also the note on the full setup at the end of the FAQ.

3. Choice of installation option
You can choose between the following installation options:

· Quiet Installation: Installation takes place without user input being necessary.
· Passive installation: Installation takes place with reduced user input.

4. Installation
The installation is started in the unpacked 'Allplan' folder using the file 'Allplan_Installer.exe' using the following command line entries:

· For quiet installation:
Allplan_installer.exe /Settings <path to the settings file> /quiet

Example:
\\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\Allplan_Installer.exe /settings \\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\settings.txt /quiet

· For passive installation:
Allplan_Installer.exe /Settings <path to the settings file> /passive

Example:
\\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\Allplan_Installer.exe /settings \\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\settings.txt /passive
 
5. Modify the installation
It is also possible to modify the installation.
To do this, edit the settings file for the desired additional or components to be removed. Call the setup with the following parameters:

· For quiet installation:
Allplan_Installer.exe /Settings <path to the settings file> /quiet /modify

Example:
\\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\Allplan_Installer.exe /settings \\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\settings.txt /quiet /modify

· For passive installation:

6. Repair of the installation
It is also possible to repair the installation.
Call the setup with the following parameters:

· For quiet installation:
Allplan_Installer.exe /Settings <path to the settings file> /quiet /repair

Example:
\\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\Allplan_Installer.exe /settings \\SERVER\Share\Subfolder\settings.txt /quiet /repair

· For passive installation:
Allplan_Installer.exe /Settings <path to the settings file> /passive /modify

7. Uninstall
Uninstallation can also be done via passive or quiet installation.

HInt:
Of course, in the silent setup, the name of "Allplan_Installer.exe" must be adapted to the name that matches the version (e.g. Allplan_2023_0_4_Installer.exe).


Note on downloading the full setup from version 2023:
From version 2023 onwards, Allplan is installed using a minimal installer, which only downloads those components that are actually required for the installation.
If, for example, the complete installation package with all optional components is required to roll out the setup, it can be downloaded using the layout mode, which is described in the following FAQ.

Note on licensing:
Since there is no longer a license query in Allplan Setup from version 2022, this information cannot be provided. If a license server is in use, it can be set up on a computer and then distributed using the following procedure.

Error LocalDataPath exceeds maximum length of 80 characters

Question:

What does this error message mean and how can I fix it? How can I change the path and switch from server to local?


Response:

For the use of Allplan Share, a defined path for the "LocaldataPath" is used for the temporary storage of the project data to be edited. Since Allplan 2021, a default setting has been made that the LocaldataPath should always be in the Windows user. However, for customers who place their users on the server or in the cloud, the problem arises that 80 characters are exceeded. There is a possibility to change this path to local by creating a registry entry.

Notice:

The procedure described below is carried out at your own risk.
Questions about this should definitely be clarified before practical implementation.
Always make a copy of a file before making changes to it.
Before changing registry entries, create a backup of the registry key to be modified by exporting the key in the registry editor under File->export....
We recommend that this work be carried out by an experienced technician.


Proceed as follows:

Be sure to close Allplan before making the change so that no data loss or errors can occur.

1. Create a new folder on a local drive C: or D: of the computer used for Allplan with the name "Local data" and the subfolder "Allplan" (e.g. C:\Local data\Allplan) .
2. In Windows, as administrator, start the Windows Registry Editor (Start-> Run-> Regedit).
3. In the registry, open the key of your version in the left column:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\Allplan\2021.0\InstallRoot
or e.g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\Allplan\2022.0\InstallRoot
...
4. In the right-hand window, click with the right mouse button and select New -> String.
Create a string with the name LocalDataDrive and a string with the name LocalDataPath.
5. In the right column of the registry editor, double-click the left mouse button to activate the edit mode for the "LocalDataDrive" key and enter the drive you have selected for the local file storage (e.g. C: ) and confirm the change with "OK". The change in the registry editor is then applied.
6. Then activate the editing mode for the key "LocalDataPath" in the right column of the registry editor by double-clicking the left mouse button and enter the additional path defined for the local file storage (e.g. \LocalDataPath ) and confirm the change with "OK". The change is then adopted in the registry editor. The result should look like this:



7. Close the Registration Editor. Allplan now uses the newly defined path for the Allplan Share cache.
Restart the Allmenu and you will see the local path displayed there.

Turning on GPU rendering for Microsoft remote desktop

Question:

What might cause Allplan not to function correctly in a Microsoft remote desktop environment?
And what can I do to solve these problems?



Answer:

Running graphic-intensive software in a Microsoft remote desktop environment might be restricted because GPU rendering is turned off for Microsoft remote desktop by default. You can solve problems by configuring the Windows local group policy on the host so that GPU rendering is turned on during a remote desktop session.

Important notes:

  • It is the IT service provider or office administrator who is responsible for configuring the Windows local group policy. This is not part of the support services provided by Allplan’s technical support.
  • In this context, Allplan’s technical support does not assume any responsibility for possible problems you might have with your computer.

To configure the local group policy, do the following:
Start the local group policy editor in Windows: Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc

Local group policy editor starts.

Select the path in the area on the left: Local computer policy -> Computer configuration -> Administrative templates -> Windows components -> Remote desktop services -> Remote desktop sessions host -> Remote session environment -> RemoteFX for Windows Server 2008 R2.



Turn on the following settings in the area on the right:

1) “Configure RemoteFX“

2) “Optimize visual experience when using RemoteFX”

3) “Optimize visual experience for remote desktop service sessions”

Do not change the other predefined parameters in the dialog boxes.



Select the path in the area on the left: Local computer policy -> Computer configuration -> Administrative templates -> Windows components -> Remote desktop services -> Remote desktop sessions host -> Remote session environment.

(This is the folder superior to the one selected beforehand.)



Turn on the following settings in the area on the right:

1) “Use hardware graphics adapters for all remote desktop services sessions”

2) “Configure compression for RemoteFX data”

Do not change the other predefined parameters in the dialog boxes.

Restart the host to apply the new local group policy settings. Afterward, you can use the GPU of the host.

How can I install additional Allplan workstations on an existing network (with or without Workgroup Manager)?

  • Make sure the version you are installing is the same as the one installed on the other workstations.

  • Installing additional workstations does not affect the data (projects, ...) in the central file storage folder.

Answer:

You can install Allplan 2017 in silent mode. This installation mode is fully automatic; you do not need to enter anything. Silent installation is particularly useful if you want to install Allplan 2017 with the same settings on a large number of workstations on a network.

Requirements for installing in silent mode:

Pay attention to the different licensing types!

Licensing for stand-alone workstations:
Make sure you have not yet activated a license on the computer where you want to record silent installation. Use the Viewer option for recording.

After having installed all computers in silent mode, you must use the Product Key to activate the license locally on each computer.
To activate the license after installation:

  • Open the 'License settings' dialog box: Services application -> Utilities -> License settings
  • Click License activationon the left.

Preparing to install in silent mode

To install Allplan in silent mode, do the following:

Install .NET 4.6
Silent setup requires you to install .NET 4.6 in advance. The reason for this is that you have to reboot the computer after installation of .NET 4.6. This reboot would interrupt silent installation.


After you have downloaded the installation files, you must unzip these files before you can use them to install in silent mode.

  • Unzip the zip file downloaded. This results in an .exe file (for example, Allplan 2017-0-5-cad.exe).
  • Then unzip this .exe file using an appropriate program (for example, 7_Zip) and save the resulting file to any folder. You can now use the command prompt to start Setup.exe for recording.

Answer:

This problem is caused by an incorrect entry for the central file storage of Allplan in the Windows Registry.
You can find the central file storage of Allplan in the following path of the Windows Registry:
HKLM\Software\Nemetschek\Allplan\20xx.0\Installroot - in the "NetDrive" and "NetPath" key values.

In this example, you can find the central file storage of Allplan in the following UNC path: "\\C-C6615S2\Data\Allplan\Allplan 2021"
The name of the shared server folder for the central file storage of Allplan is ..\Data.

The complete UNC path for the central file storage of Allplan is stored in the “NetDrive” key.

When installing Allplan, Setup creates the STD, PRJ folders (plus the NET, USR folders for Workgroup Manager) in the folder under the shared ...Allplan\Allplan 2021 folder (see illustration 1).

You can check the paths entered in the Windows Registry as follows: Open the Services application and select Service - File Explorer - My own CAD projects (PRJ). In the case of Workgroup Manager, select Common CAD projects (PRJ).
Afterward, File Explorer should open, and you should see the relevant folders.
If, however, File Explorer opens the “My Documents” folder under Windows, this indicates that the paths entered in the Windows Registry are not correct.

Work through the following steps:

Step 1 - run as administrator
Start Allplan with the ‘Run as administrator’ option.

Step 2 - cleanup
Allplan is not running. Start the Services application and do the following:
Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> cleanup -> OK
If Allplan does not start, go to step 3.

Step 3 - cleanstd
Allplan is not running. Start the Services application and do the following:
Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> cleanstd: reset CAD defaults -> OK -> OK -> Yes -> OK
If Allplan does not start, restore the settings:

Go to step 4.

Step 4 - cleanreg
Allplan is not running. Start the Services application and do the following:

If Allplan does not start, restore the registry settings:

Go to step 5.

Step 5 (Allplan 2016 and later)
Restart the Wibu service:
Start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen and enter Codemeter.

CodeMeter Control Center -> Process -> Start CodeMeter Service
If the service is running, stop it and restart it.

If Allplan does not start, go to step 6.

Step 6 (Allplan 2016 and later)
Go to the Wibu website and install CodeMeter User Runtime Version for Windows (64-bit version).

License server installation failed

Question:

During installation of license server the message appears 'installation failed'. What could be the reason for it?



Answer:

Check the following points:

  • The license server must be installed in a 64 bit windows system. License server is not working on 32 bit system.
  • Make sure the license server setup is saved local on the machine and is not executed over network
  • Stop the real time check of your virus scanner or stop the virus scanner complete during installation. Optionally stop the firewall as well - attention in most cases you have to reboot the server in order to take over the settings.
  • Run the *.exe file over context menu -> run as administrator.
  • If the license server installation still fails. The reason could be NET framework. License server uses NET framework 4.6 and in newer version 4.7. If there are components missing the setup will automatically try to install them. This happens in the background. It will be connected to webpage of Microsoft http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=397708 and the missing files will be downloaded and installed. If a proxy server is blocking this page the download cannot happen and the license server installation fails. In these cases you will have to configure the proxy server settings to allow the Microsoft URL. Microsoft URL has to be trustworthy. Start installation of license server again.



Addition for license server 2017 on older sever like 2008 R2 server:

If the license server installation still fails and the setup stays at 50%, then the reason is usually .NET framework.
Try to install the .NET version in advance from Microsoft Download.


Installation of. NET framework 4.6 requires at least Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP 1.

When I synchronize project data, Allplan displays the progress bar again and again.

Answer:

Open the Windows Registry and switch off multithreading, which was set up for Workgroup Manager Online.
The name of the corresponding key is WGOUseThreading. Make sure this key is set to 0, so that multithreading is off.
For Allplan 2016, the path to this key in the Windows Registry is as follows: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nemetschek\Allplan\2016.0\Settings

Switch off multithreading at all Allplan workstations that access project data using the FTP server.







Note:

Multithreading was developed for Workgroup Manager Online. Using this function, you can quickly access project data on the FTP server.

Allplan does not react promptly or seems to hang after I have selected the "Open on a Project-Specific Basis" or "New Project, Open Project" tool.

What can I do to solve this problem?



Answer:

Check whether updating the software of the virus scanner solves the problem.

If it doesn't, configure the real time scanner of the virus scanner so that it no longer scans the program folder and data folder of Allplan.

Start the Services application. Make a note of the following paths displayed in the Services application window:

Program folder
General program data
Central file storage folder

Define these folders as exemptions in your virus scanner.

In addition, add the paths listed below to the list of exceptions:

C:\Program Files\Allplan\AllplanUpdateLauncher 20XX\*.
C:\Users\Windows Username\AppData\Local\Nemetschek\Allplan\20XX\Tmp\*.

What is NemSLock?
Until Version 2005, Allplan had been protected by hardlocks available for the parallel and USB ports. NemSLock, a hardlock-free software protection system, was launched with Allplan 2006. With NemSLock, you no longer need any hardlocks as these tasks are taken on by the computer.
NemSLock is available as a standalone version (NemSLock LicenseManager) and as a server version (NemSLock Server).

What are the advantages of softlock over hardlock as a software protection system?
NemSLock offers a number of advantages:
- Hardlocks are no longer required; i.e. USB ports are not occupied.
- Any problems that might occur in conjunction with NemSLock can be handled more quickly.

What are the differences between trial licenses, temporary licenses and final licenses?
Trial licenses are impersonal licenses that can be used to for test and experiment with the program. These licenses are valid for 30 days. For customers it is impossible to register with a trial license. Therefore a temporary or a final license has to be installed.
Temporary licenses are personal, unregistered licenses that come with the program and include the scope of modules you have purchased. This license is also valid for 30 days only. To use the protected program for an unlimited period, you need to register the license by generating a license request with the License Manager.
You receive a final license in response to the license request you have sent to Nemetschek. The license has to be installed on the computer where the license requested was created before. It removes the time limit of temporary licenses.

Allplan comes with a personal license for temporary use including the scope of modules ordered. This license, which is valid for 30 days, can be installed on any computer. However, this license only runs for a full 30 day period when you have not already installed a trial license. In this case, you can only work for the remaining period of validity of the trial license.
You can also register the license after this period of 30 days.

Which license on the disk is to be used for which seat?
The name of the license includes the seat number (s#): “customer#_s#_psd.nslock "

Can I install with a license that is registered for a different computer?
In Version 2009 and higher, you can install with a license that is registered for a different computer. However, this license behaves as if it was a trial license. In other words, you cannot use it to generate a registration request and it will expire after 30 days.

Can I install the license for temporary use again after the 30 days have expired?
No, you can’t. A license for temporary cannot be installed again on the same computer.

What about trial licenses (demo licenses)?
Trial licenses are available. The Allplan DVD includes trial licenses that are valid for 30 days.

What information is required to register?
You need to enter the Client ID (customer number) and the associated CD Key (customer delivery key) at the LicenseManager. In addition, you need to provide Nemetschek with your user data so that we can contact you if problems arise. It is essential that you enter your email address correctly as you get the final licenses by email.
To edit the Client ID or the CD Key administrator privileges are required. If you do not have administrator privileges, the Client ID and CD Key boxes are locked and you can see the Change Client ID and CD Key button in the dialog box.

How can I register licenses for seats?
You need to generate a license request by clicking the relevant button in the license manager. A wizard guides you through the registration steps. Make sure that you enter your customer data, CD Key and Client ID correctly (To edit the Client ID or the CD Key administrator privileges are required; please read the previous paragraph). This process creates a registration file, which needs to be sent to register@nemetschek.de. The registration file contains all the data required for creating a computer-specific (registered) license.

How long does a registration process take?
When all the data is entered correctly, you will usually get your final license in a couple of minutes after you have sent the license request.

What can I do when I do not get the final license after sending a license request.
First check the contact details (the email address, in particular) you have entered in the license request. If necessary, fix the errors and generate another license request. Then send the license request again to register@nemetschek.de. If the email address you entered is correct, you will always get a confirmation.
The e-mail with your final license may be stuck in the spam filter of your e-mail account. Please check this.

Can NemSLock be used to transfer licenses to other computers (as with hardlocks that are simply connected to another computer)?
Yes, you can use the “Transfer license temporarily” tool in the License Manager to transfer licenses in online or offline mode to a different computer. However, you can only transfer all licenses that are installed on your computer. It is not possible to transfer single licenses.

Can a license be returned prior to expiration?
The file can be returned from the import computer prior to expiration in the transfer wizard.

Automatic update fails to install hotfix 2015-1-11.

An error occurs during installation of hotfix 2015-1-11 or later. What can I do?



Answer:

To install this and future Allplan 2015 hotfixes using auto-update, you must update the installation service. Requirement: Allplan 2015-1-10 is installed.

1. You can find a batch file attached to this FAQ. Save and extract this file and execute it on every Allplan workstation (right-click this file -> select "Run as administrator" on the shortcut menu...). The batch file looks for the "InstallAULService.exe" file in the local PRG folder of the Allplan installation and runs it as the administrator. This updates the installation service.
Be careful: this requires administrator privileges.

If your e-mail program blocks this file, you can also download it from our FTP server.
Enter the following address in WindowsExplorer (do not use Internet Explorer!):

Bear in mind, though, that you should not mix data from different versions, as merging data later involves considerable time and effort.

2a. Continue with first-time installation and copy data from version

This option is available when you have already installed <Product_Version> and copied the data to a different computer that accesses the same data server. As a result, the data have already been transferred.

3. Upgrade and transfer data from Allplan 2014/2015/2016

This option installs Allplan 2017 to an existing folder, converting Allplan 2014/2015/2016 to Allplan 2017 and transferring all important settings. Afterwards, you can no longer work with Allplan 2014/2015/2016.
This does nor affect earlier Allplan versions (Allplan 2013 or earlier).



Installing on a network:

  • If you work in a network environment (one common central file storage folder), you must upgrade all workstations to Allplan 2017. Therefore, make sure you can upgrade all workstations (deadline for Serviceplus agreement: July 1, 2016) beforeyou start installing.
  • During the upgrade, Allplan 2014/2015/2016 must not be running on any workstation.
  • When installing with Workgroup Manager, make sure all workstations are checked in before you start upgrading.

If you want to switch from Allplan 2018/2019/2020 to Allplan 2021, you have three basic installation options.

1. New installation

Allplan 2021 is installed in a new folder. Any existing installations of Allplan (2020 or older) are not affected. No data and settings are transferred to the new installation.

The following options are available for transferring data later:

Uninstall Allplan 2021 and then upgrade Allplan 2018/2019/2020.
Integrating the data by hand (administrator knowledge required).

2. New installation with data copy from version

Allplan 2021 is installed in a new folder. Any existing installations of Allplan (2020 or older) are not affected. The office standard (\std), projects (\prj) and user data (\usr) can be automatically copied from an existing version 2018/2019/2020 to the new installation folder.
In this way, you can create a duplicate dataset if necessary: all projects, standards and resources can be used in both Allplan 2021 and 2018/2019/2020. This allows you to test the transition to the new version in real life, while the existing Allplan installation remains fully functional.
Note, however, that this method of working should avoid parallel processing of data in both installations, as the subsequent merging is time-consuming.

2a. Continuation of new installation with data copy from version

This option is available if a new installation with data copy has already been performed on another computer accessing the same data server and therefore the data has already been transferred.

3. Upgrade with data transfer from version 2018/2019/2020

Allplan 2021 is installed in an existing folder. The existing installation of Allplan 2018/2019/2020 is converted to Allplan 2021 and all important settings are transferred (see also Limitations for Data Transfer). Allplan 2018/2019/2020 is then no longer available.
Any existing installations older than Allplan 2018 are not affected.


Network Installations:

For network installations (shared 'central file storage folder'), only one main release version can be used - all workstations must be brought to Allplan 2021. Before starting the installation, make sure that all workstations have upgrade authorization. A mixed installation of different main versions is not technically approved. Complications that may arise are not covered by the maintenance contracts.

During the upgrade, no workstation may be running any version 2020, 2019 or 2018.

In case of an installation with Workgroupmanager all workstations must be checked in during the upgrade.




Data Conversion:

Data from older Allplan versions must be converted to version 2021. This happens automatically for projects opened in Allplan 2021. For instructions on how to convert all projects at once, click here:

Question:
I purchased a new license and received a Product Key for Allplan. However, I work with an earlier Allplan version. How can I install and license Allplan 2015 or an earlier version despite the new license?


Answer:

Allplan 2016 introduced a new protection system. Since then licensing has been based on CodeMeter by Wibu Systems AG. You can no longer use Softlock (NemSLock) or hardlocks with Allplan. For running Allplan, you get a Product Key by email. Using this key, you can activate your license online.

This new license is not downward compatible. Consequently, you cannot use it for earlier Allplan versions.

For licensing earlier versions, you require the Client ID and CD Key. You can find this information in the delivery note or invoice. Instead of a temporary license, use the appropriate trial license to install Allplan 2015 or an earlier version. Then generate a registration request to license and activate the modules you purchased.

Note:
If you use a license server for which you purchased an additional license, please read the separate document or contact support.de@allplan.com. We will show you how to add the new license to the license server.

If you want to install Allplan 2015 or an earlier version, use a trial license to install the version you need.

Downloading Allplan:
Make sure the Allplan version you install is always up-to-date. In other words, it should include the latest hotfixes and service releases.
You can download the current Allplan version from Allplan Connect or the FTP server.

1. Install Allplan with a trial license
Install Allplan. In the 'Select License Information' dialog box, choose 'Trial license for temporary use' and select the license for 'Architecture' or 'Engineering'.

Important: If you work with Workgroup Manager, select 'Different trial license' -> 'Next'. Open the Workgroup folder for your country and select the appropriate license. Then follow the instructions and install Allplan. Make sure you enter the paths correctly.


2. Request a license registered for your computer
The trial license is valid for 30 days. It is not personalized.
Consequently, you have to enter your personal data manually when generating the registration request.
You can find the required Client ID and CD Key in the delivery note or invoice.

To generate a registration request, do the following:

Open the License Manager (Service application -> Utilities- > License -> License Manager).
Select the license entry for your seat and click 'Request license'. Please follow the instructions displayed on screen.

Note: Editing customer details requires administrator privileges. The system will issue an appropriate message. Close NemSLock License Manager and start the Services application again. To do this, click the Services desktop icon with the right mouse button and select 'Run as administrator' on the shortcut menu.


Enter the necessary details:
The Client IDhas eight zeros (00000000) and the CD Keyhas eight capital F's (FFFFFFFF).

For the Client ID, enter your customer number. You can find your customer number in the letteror delivery notethat came with Allplan.
For the CD Key, enter your CD Key, which you can also find in the letter or delivery note. Make sure you use small letters and capital letters accordingly.

Note:You can find the Client ID and CD Key at top left in the delivery note. The CD Keyusually consists of the numbers 0 to 9 and the capital letters A to F.


Fill out all the fields. Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because registered licenses and replies to status queries of license will be sent to the address you specify here.
Click Next >

For the seat, change the number 94 to the license you purchased, for example, 02, 03 or 04.
Specify how to send the registration file and click Next >.

Start email program ...
The program creates and saves the register.txt file before it opens your default email program. The program automatically attaches the registration file to the email and enters register (please no spam) @ (please no spam) nemetschek.defor the address.

Save the registration file ...
The program creates and saves the register.txt file before it opens the folder with the registration file in Windows Explorer. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.

In addition, you can see the data that were written to the registration file.

  1. Click Finish.
  2. Click Close to exit NemSLock License Manager.

You will receive a reply by email within a few minutes. This email provides information on the registration process and usually includes the registered license file.

Note: The registered license file is generated by an automated system. Consequently, any additional comments in incoming emails are not read.


3. Installing the license file
Shortly after we received the registration request, we will send you the final license file to the email address you specified in the registration request.
Install this license file as follows:

  • Save the license file to any folder on the hard disk.
    If the license comes as a zip file, extract it.
  • Next, install the license by double-clicking the license file ("customer#_seat.nslock").
    Confirm the dialog box.
  • As an alternative, you can also use License Manager to install the license file (Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager).
    Click "Install - Install license" and then "Browse..." to select the license.
    Click "Finish" to complete the installation process.
  • Your registered license is displayed in the License Manager. Clear the check box for the trial license (for example, seat 94 or 98). Make sure your registered license is the only license that is selected.




Installing an earlier version with NemSLock server instead of Allplan 2016, 2017 or Allplan 2018

Extract the ZIP file. Right-click the EXE file and select "Run as administrator".
Deactivate the virus scanner during installation.


1. Install Allplan with a trial license
Install Allplan. In the 'Select License Information' dialog box, choose 'Trial license for temporary use' and select the license for 'Architecture' or 'Engineering'.

2. Use NemSLock server to request a registered license for the new seat

If you have not used a license server until now, install the license server using the trial license for NemSLock Server.

Installing NemSLock Server

  • Start the Setup program for NemSLock Server. You can find the latest Setup program on our FTP server:

  • The trial license is also on the FTP server:

  • Select the trial license file for NemSLock Server. This license is valid for 30 days, but it includes only seat. The full number of seats purchased will be available to you as soon as you have installed the registered licenses (see below).
  • Select the full installation.
  • If the service does not start automatically after Setup, select Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and start the Nemslock Server 2006 service.



Registering licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Consoleby clicking the corresponding icon on the desktop or by selecting Start -> All Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Switch to Moduleson the left.
  • Select one of your seats.
  • Click the Registration request (register.txt)button.
  • Click Edit.
  • Fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because the registered license file will be sent to this address (and not to the address of the person who sent the registration request!). Click OKto confirm.
  • Click Create registration request. Windows Explorer opens and shows the register.txt file.
    If you have closed Windows Explorer, you can find the file in the program folder of NemSLock Server. If you installed the program to the path proposed, the path is
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nemetschek\NemSLock Server 2006\Programs\License.
  • Use an editor to open the new register.txt file.

You can find the entry for your seat in line @23@seat:. Change it and enter your new seat number instead. For example, if you purchased seat 08, change the entry to @23@seat: 08. Save the file.

  • You can now use all the options provided by Windows Explorer to copy the registration file to a computer with Internet connection. You can do this on the network or you can use a USB stick. You can then email the file to us.
  • Send the email with the registration request to register@nemetschek.de.
  • You will promptly receive your registered license for the new seat.



Installing licenses
Exit Allplan on all workstations.

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click Stop serveron the left.
  • Switch to Moduleson the left.
  • Click Browse and select the registered license file.
  • Click Install license file.
  • After this, you can start the server again by clicking Start server.



Note:

If you purchased several new licenses, you have to generate and send a separate registration request for each seat. Just repeat the steps described above. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.

Installing and configuring NemSLock Server

Answer:

Before installing, check whether the package you received includes the following items:

  • Temporary licenses for NemSLock Server, e.g. 1234567a_001_psd.nslsrv
  • Temporary licenses for clients, e.g. 1234567a_001_psd_client.nslock



How to install NemSLock Server

  • Start the Setup program for NemSLock Server. You can find the latest Setup program on our FTP server:

  • Select one of the temporary license files for NemSLock Server. These licenses are valid for 30 days. However, each license includes only one seat of each configuration purchased. The full number of seats purchased will be available to you as soon as you have installed the registered licenses (see below). If you purchased a configuration for one seat only, you will, of course, receive only one temporary license.
  • When you opt for the “Custom” setup type, you can choose between the following program features:
    Console
    You can use this program to administer NemSLock Server. You can also install the console on more workstations so that you can administer the server from a number of different locations. However, you can only connect one console to the server at any one time.
    Server
    The actual license server.
    Logviewer
    This tool analyzes the log files of NemSLock Server.

By default, Setup installs all these features.
If you have several temporary licenses for NemSLock Server, use the server console to install the remaining licenses after the installation. The procedure is described in the section "How to install licenses".


How to register licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console by clicking the corresponding icon on the desktop or by selecting Start -> All Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Select the seat you want to register. If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must send a separate registration request for each seat. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.
  • Click the "Registration request (register.txt)" button.
  • Click "Edit".
  • You must fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because the registered license file will be sent to this address (and not to the address of the person who sent the registration request!). Click OK to confirm.
  • Click "Create registration request". Windows Explorer opens and shows the register.txt file. If this window is closed, you can find this file in the program folder of NemSLock Server. If you installed the program to the path proposed, the path is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nemetschek\NemSLock Server 2006\Programs\License
  • Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer to copy the registration file to a computer with Internet access on the network. Alternatively, you can also use an USB stick. You can then email this file to us.
  • Send the email with the registration request to register@nemetschek.de



How to install licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Stop server" on the left.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Click "Browse" to navigate to the registered license file.
  • Click "Install license file".
  • After this, you can start the server again by clicking "Start server".



How to set up users (optional)

  • predefined user ALLis created automatically. If there is no other user, each user is given the privileges of the user ALL. By default, this user can use all licenses but cannot check out any licenses. By double-clicking the user, you can change the user's privileges.
  • predefined user ALLallows all users to use licenses. In order to do this, the users must be able to access the server. You do not need to create individual user profiles until you want to assign specific rights to individual users or limit access to selected users. predefined user ALL. If you want to work only with individual users, you should deactivate the predefined user ALL by revoking the user's right to use licenses.
  • predefined user ALL has administrator privileges unless another user is created and appointed as the administrator. As soon as you have appointed an administrator, ALL no longer has administrator privileges.
  • You can enter users in the “Users.mcf” file. predefined user ALL has administrator privileges again. In addition, each user can once again administer the license server using the console.
  • The administrator user is not a special user. If there are several administrator users, only one administrator user can start the console for this license server at any one time.
  • If you are setting up users without giving administrator privileges to anyone, the program will ask you whether you want to appoint yourself as the administrator.


You can also specify a domain (user authentication for Windows server). However, this is not mandatory. If you do not specify a domain, the program uses the Windows user name for each user.

The program writes the user accounts and the associated access rights as ASCII text to the users.mcf file.

You can find this file in the \Programs folder of the NemSLock Server installation. You cannot rename, delete or move this file. If the program can no longer connect to this file, you must exit NemSLock Server, restart it and enter all users again from scratch. predefined user ALLis retained.

How to install and configure clients

  • Use one of the nslock license files you received to install the clients. Do not use the trial license or the license server license. It is irrelevant which of the client licenses you use, as the actual license will come from the license server later.
  • You do not need to register the clients.
  • When switching from Hardlock to NemSLock (server), you need to update the client using a nslock license file.


After having installed the client, you need to switch to the license server:

  • Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager
  • If the license server window is not visible, select "Configure NemSLock Server" at the bottom. Lock this window. All you need to do is click the drawing pin icon.
  • Enter the computer name or IP address of the license server in the empty box. Then click the "Update” icon to the right.
  • Now the user can select one of the seats provided.
  • After having successfully connected to the license server, clear the check boxes for the trial licenses in the area at the top.
  • Click "Close" to complete the configuration. Now you can start Allplan.



Notes:

  • If a user selects several configurations for a seat and starts Allplan, the license server will provide the required licenses; in other words, starting Allplan once might require two licenses. Consequently, fewer licenses are available to other users.
  • 2014-1 and later: If the latest version of License Manager is installed (file version 1. 0. 26. 153 or later, see License Manager- Options- System), you can also select several licenses. If one of the selected licenses is currently being used by someone else, the program will automatically select the next available license.
  • Clients communicate with the server by TCP/IP via port 10977. So you need to configure the firewall accordingly.
  • The license server and the licenses are downward compatible; they can be used in conjunction with older Allplan versions.

Answer:

At the server

  • The hardlock license server runs on the following operating systems: Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional or Windows 2003 Server. Although additional operating systems are possible, they are not approved officially. The 64-bit versions of the operating systems stated above require a special hardlock driver, which you need to install. To do this, follow this link:

  • Click 'setup.exe' to start installing the license server. You can choose any folder for the installation folder. Please connect the dongle to the server before you start installing.
  • When the installation is complete, open the License Manager of the license server. The License Manager should not issue any error messages, and all the licenses should be displayed on the "Licenses" tab.


At the client

  • You usually use the license of the license server to install the client. If the client has already been installed, you can also install this license later. To do this, open the Services application, click Utilities -> License -> Install HARDLOCK license.
  • Next, you need to configure the License Manager of the client for the license server. To do this, open the Services application again, click Utilities -> License -> License Settings, and switch to "License server via RPC" in the "Licenses" area on the "General" tab. Finally, type in the computer name of the license server in the "Computer with license server service" box at bottom right and click "Apply". I purchased the license server. How can I install and configure the license server?



Answer:

Allplan is using since version 2016 a new protection system. Licensing is based on CodeMeter by Wibu Systems AG since then. You can no longer use NemSLock Server with Allplan 2016 and higher.

Allplan requires a Product Key. Using this key, you can activate your license online. The Product Key is a unique, 26-digit character string. You can use it to activate a license for Allplan.
You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect. Go to http://connect.allplan.com/license
Note: The license is downwards compatible til version Allplan 2016-1-4 even if a higher version is displayed.



To install the license server, download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect


The Wibu license server is part of the CodeMeter driver, which is installed along with Allplan. If you have already installed Allplan on the license server, you do not have to install additional software. But you can also install the license server separately; you do not have to install Allplan.
In any case, install and activate the license server before you install Allplan on the clients.

You can activate a license in online mode only if you have ...

  • Internet access
  • a Product Key
  • a license server license; you cannot use other licenses with the license server.




Installing the license server

  • You must install the license server on a 64-bit Windows system.
  • Start License Server Setup on the computer you want to use as the license server.
  • Click Install.
  • Start the license server by starting the License Settings program. Go to the License activation area, enter your Product Key and click Activate license.
  • If you have more licenses for the license server, enter the respective Product Keys and activate the licenses.
  • Afterwards, start CodeMeter Control Center.

To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen: enter Codemeter and press ENTER. A dialog box opens. Click WebAdmin at bottom right.

  • Select Configuration -> Server -> Access server in the Network server area and click Activate.
  • Click Apply.



Configuring the license server (optional)

You can use the CodeMeter WebAdmin application to administer the license server.
To start and stop the license server service, you can use CodeMeter Control Center.

  • CodeMeter Control Center -> Action -> Start or Stop CodeMeter Service


Access control
By default, all users on the LAN, who have installed the CodeMeter driver, can use a license from the license server.

  • Basic access control: you can enter a list of client computer names or IP addresses that are allowed to access the license server.
  • Advanced access control: you can specify global access rules (for all licenses) to control access to the licenses.


License tracking
To activate license tracking, you have to set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIBU-SYSTEMS\CodeMeter\Server\CurrentVersion\LogLicenseTracking registry entry to 1 and restart CodeMeter Service.

After having activated this key, you can use CodeMeter WebAdmin to create a report showing details about the licenses used over a specific period of time. To do this, open CodeMeter WebAdmin and go to the 'Server' - 'License Tracking' page. Select the period of time and the license for which you want to generate a report. Then click 'Create report'. If you click a single bar, you will get detailed analyses per day or per hour.

CodeMeter WebAdmin saves the reports to C:\ProgramData\CodeMeter\Logs.



Installing and configuring clients

Note for Version 2016: Install at least Allplan 2016-1-4 on the clients.

The license server license will be detected automatically on the network.
Install Allplan on the clients. When you are prompted to select the license file, click Use active license. Follow the installation instructions.

  • You do not need to activatethe clients.


Allplan automatically finds the license server on the local network. If you have not selected a license, Allplan automatically selects the first available license.

After having installed Allplan on the clients, you can use the 'License Settings' dialog boxto configure license selection.
Services application -> Utilities -> License settings

Areas:

  • License activation: this area is not relevant to clients taking their license from the license server.
  • License selection: use this section if you get the license from a license server or if you have several licenses and you want to select the preferred license.
  • Start as a viewer: click this button if you want to start Allplan as a viewer.



License selection

You can see the names of the available licenses with their seat numbers.
The 'Available' column indicates how many licenses are still available. Click the dropdown arrow to see a list of users currently working with a license.

Priority:
Select the check box in front of a license to select this license as a favorite. You can mark as many licenses as you want. Allplan will then prefer these licenses. Click to select one ore more licenses Allplan is not to use. If you do not select any license or if you have selected several favorites, Allplan will automatically use the first free license it finds.

Find license server automatically:
When you select this option, Allplan automatically detects a license server on the LAN. In some cases, such as VPN connections, Allplan may not be able to detect a server automatically. In this case, you can enter the server manually (see Additional server name).
Note: Only the Windows administrator can change this option.

Additional server name:
If 'Find license server automatically' is not active or Allplan has not automatically found a license server, you can manually enter the name or the IP address of the server. If 'Find license server automatically' is active, you can enter an additional server. After having entered the server name, click 'Update' to see the licenses of the license server. Use semicolons to separate several server names.


Note:

You can find detailed information on the license server in the License Settings help (F1 key).

Allplan communicates with the license server via TCP/IP. By default, communication is via Port 22350 unless you change the port in CodeMeter WebAdmin.

If a firewall is active on your computer, you must enable port 22350 for TCP and UDP. If the firewall filters in an application-specific manner, you have to enable the CodeMeter.exe license server service. You can find this service in the %Program Files (x86)%\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin Windows folder. Define the CodeMeter.exe service as an exception in the firewall. Some anti-virus programs also include firewall functions. If you are not sure, contact the manufacturer of the anti-virus program.
