Question:

How to update the license server and the licenses?

Answer:

Allplan 2016: Before you do anything, make sure Allplan 2016-1-4 or later is running on all clients.
Allplan 2017 and higher: Check the version of the license server as described below and update the licenses.

1. Updating the license server
Check the version of your installed license server on the server. Starting with the license server version 2016-1-4, the detailed version status (Build-ID) is displayed directly in the lower left corner of the License Settings program.
The latest version 1.11xx.xxx.xxx should be displayed here. If an older Build ID is displayed, then you still have an older license server in use. In any case, please update your license server. Download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect - license server version 2021 or from the following link.

https://webdrive.allplan.com/index.php/s/4LrjrymoxESzC6p

The package is in the folder

/Allplan/Lizenzserver/2021/

Start the new License Server Setup on the server or computer you use as the license server. Right-click the *.exe file and select 'Run as administrator' on the shortcut menu.

  • Click Install.
  • Click Exit.

If you have not yet installed the license server or if you have not switched to Allplan 2016 or higer until now, you can find detailed step-by-step instructions at
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20150618084450.html

2. Updating the licenses
Update the licenses at the license server as follows:

  • Start the License Settingsprogram on the server.
  • Click License activationon the left. Then click the license you want to update so that this license is highlighted in blue.
  • As you can see, the 'Update license' function is now available.
  • Click Update license.
  • If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must update each license separately.

Note: When updating the license it can be that you will receive a higher version of the license as the version of Allplan you are using. The license is downward comatible and can be used until Allplan 2016.

Transfer single workstation to network with/without Workgroup Manager as of Allplan 2022

Task:

You have installed Allplan locally on several workstations and now wish to change the installation to access a shared network drive with the data store.

Note:

Before you switch to a network installation, you must back up the data of all workstations.
We highly recommend that this work be carried out by a technician. Your sales partner will be happy to provide you with a quote for this.

Solution:

For cases where Allplan is installed locally and the project data is also stored locally on each computer, the following description shows how to change to workstations with a common network drive for common file storage.

1. Getting ready
Choose one of the workstations where you will install all the projects and the office standard (hereinafter referred to as the main workstation).
First, move all the projects to the main workstation.

1.a: copying resources into projects
To make sure that the projects in your office have a uniform appearance, change the path settings for the projects' resources to 'Project'.
Make the following setting for each project:
Allplan -> File -> ProjectPilot - Admin. -> Select projects individually -> right mouse button -> Properties -> Settings tab
Change the path settings for 'Pen and line definitions', 'Fonts', 'patterns, hatching styles, area styles', 'bar and mesh cross-section catalogs', 'layer structures, line styles, drawing types' and 'attributes proposed' from 'Office' to 'Project', if necessary.
The corresponding elements are copied from the office standard directly to the project. This ensures that the project settings stay the same even when you copy the project to the new server with the new office standard.

1.b: pen color ("Color stands for pen")
The pen color for the "Color stands for pen" setting is a user-specific setting that is not saved to the project but to the user folder (...\Usr).

2.a: Importing projects from individual workstations to the main workstation
The projects of the secondary workstations can now be imported at the main workstation via the tool "New Project, Open Project -> Import project". Here you can import one or more projects or zipped project backups from any path. You can select the projects in the “import project” dialog box and import them into the current version. The source version is displayed in the version column.

The main workstation contains the latest version of all the projects of the office.

3. merging project defaults
To do this, copy the elements to be transferred (symbols, smart symbols, lists, etc.) on the secondary workstations in ProjectPilot to the external path, which can of course be set to a shared network folder.
In a second step, copy the elements to be transferred to the office standard on the main workstation in ProjectPilot via the external path.

4. Transfer the central file storage folder from the main computer to the future server:

  • Before the switch, create a folder on the server (e.g. Data) and share this folder with anyone with full access (e.g. as Data). Create a subfolderAllplanunder it. (e.g. \\server\Data\Allplan). Allplan works with UNC path. In the case of a network installation, there must therefore be a folder for the central file storage on which Allplan 2022 is to be installed that is shared by all computers.
    1.
  • Exit Allplan on all Allplan workstations.
    1.
  • Open the Allplan Diagnostic Tool on the first computer viaServices application - > Service - > Allplan Diagnostics. Switch to the "Settings" tab.
    1.
  • Under the field "Workgroup settings” press "Search...". In the browser that appears, you can search for the new share by entering the UNC name of the new server at the top followed by the share or the complete path and confirm with Enter. Select your new central file storage folder and confirm with OK. Please note that the new path must conform to UNC only when using the Workgroup Manager. For example: \\server\Data\Allplan)
    1.
  • To start the migration, please press "Apply". This will start the copying process and change the configuration. The data is not moved but copied and this workstation is now converted and accesses the new data store.
  • You can now switch all the workstations to the future network installation via the same process. For the other workstations, the copying process of the project and STD folder is prevented with a corresponding note, because the routine already recognizes these folders on the new server. Only the configurations on the computer are changed.

5. Optional: Activate Workgroup Manager (if the licenses include it)

Please refer to the following FAQ to enable the Workgroup Manager on the workstations:

https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20211001075702.html

6. Summary:
All the workstations access a common network drive with the same project pool and office standard.
Without the Workgroup Manager, only one user can access a project at the same time. Simultaneous work of multiple users in one project is only possible in an Allpan installation with the Workgroup Manager, if the license includes it. Please see section 5.

Working with Allplan from home

Question:

How can I work from home with Allplan without a direct LAN connection to a common file storage folder?

Answer:

1. Working from home with direct access to the central data

If you want to work together on projects, you can use Allplan Share, Allplan’s cloud solution, to work with Allplan without a LAN connection to the central file storage folder. This is only possible if Allplan is installed as a standalone version on a computer without access to a central file storage folder; otherwise, Allplan does not start. If the computer is part of a workgroup installation, the computer must be checked out and used outside the LAN (like a standalone workstation). Data access is via cloud services.
This is only possible if you use Allplan Share for cloud storage.

Working with Allplan Share is just as simple as working at a standalone workstation. You and several other users can access and edit a project at the same time.

To get more information on Allplan Share, use the following link or contact your sales partner:

https://www.allplan.com/de/add-ons/allplan-share/

You can also find further information on Allplan Connect; use the following link:

https://connect.allplan.com/de/forum/themen/topic/topics/cad-allgemein-1/moderierter-sammelbeitrag-zugriff-auf-allplan-projekte-aus-dem-homeoffice-via-allplan-share.html

Note:

VPN is not useful for common project storage.
Allplan exchanges many files with the data server. VPN uses advanced encryption, which considerably slows down data transfer.
A connection via VPN is not approved for Allplan because data might get damaged even if the connection is interrupted only briefly. In addition, working over the internet is extremely slow if the internet connection is not fast enough (at least 100 Mbit).
Allplan does not support a VPN connection with IPv6; Allplan detects only IPv4.
Make sure that the VPN connection does not switch to sleep mode.

Please note that we cannot provide support for this constellation.

2. Working from home without access to the central file storage (working locally):

2.1 Allplan with workgroup manager:

If workgroup manager is included in your license, you can check out a computer or laptop with projects from the workgroup environment. You can then work from home without access to the server. The projects on the computer or laptop that is checked out are locked for the CAD users on the network. These users see the comment you entered when you checked out the computer.

You can find instructions at

https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20160923105251.html

When you use a license server, you can get the license via a VPN connection or borrow the license beforehand:

https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20180109095437.html
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20160523165423.html

2.2 Allplan without workgroup manager:

Using the office computer
If you have neither workgroup manager nor network access, you must uninstall Allplan and install it again by specifying the local paths. To work with a project, you must back it up and then import it to the local installation.

Using a new (private) computer
If you want to use a new computer to work from home, you must return the license at the office computer and then use this license to install Allplan on the new computer.

We recommend that you do not mix data from the office computer and the private computer. Merging data later involves considerable time and effort.

Question:

What license issues do I need to consider when upgrading from Allplan 2021/2022/2023 to Allplan 2024?

Answer:

Installation options during Setups

Upgrade - program update with transfer of all project data, office and user settings.
The existing Allplan installation is upgraded to version 2024. If several Allplan versions are installed, only the latest version will be suggested for upgrade.  Projects, office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2021/2022/2023 to Allplan 2024. Allplan 2021/2022/2023 is then no longer available.

New installation without transfer of project data, office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are not transferred to version 2024. You can import projects after installation using the following Allplan function:
New project, open-> Import projects.

New installation with transfer of office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2021/2022/2023 to version 2024. In the case of multiple installed Allplan versions, only the most current version is suggested for transfer. If you have installed with a central file store, make sure that you create a folder with a suitable share on your central file store (server) beforehand. This folder can then be selected as the "central file storage folder" during setup. You can import projects after installation with the following Allplan function:
Project new, open-> Import projects.

Depending on the licensing system you use, you need to consider different points.

There is no license request when installing Allplan 2024. Therefore, make sure in advance that your licenses are also suitable for this version, e.g. by purchase or a valid service contract.

1. Upgrade Allplan 2024 – stand-alone workstation

Your license for Allplan 2024 will be updated after installation, when you start Allplan 2024 for the first time. Start Allplan 2024 and you will be prompted to update the license. Select "Update now" here. The license is updated online. You can then start Allplan 2024 directly or close the license window.

Note: To install Allplan 2024 on a new computer, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Transferring license to a new computer.

You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license

2. Upgrading Allplan 2024 with a license server

Start by updating your license(s) at the license server. After this, upgrade the clients. To do this, start the License Settings program on the server. Click License Activation on the left, and then click the license you want to update. Click Update License.
After the license(s) update, you can perform the Allplan upgrade installation on the client computers.

NOTE: Check the version of your installed license server on the server. Starting with the license server version 2016-1-4, the detailed version status (Build-ID) is displayed directly in the lower left corner of the License Settings program.
At least version 1.1196.xxx.xxx should be displayed here. If an older Build ID is displayed, then you still have an older license server in use. In any case, please update your license server. Download the software for the license server from the Allplan Connect service portal. Detailed instructions can be found at connect.allplan.com/license under the menu item Information on installation and Licensing' and the instructions 'Updating license server and licenses'.

Note: You can update the licenses only at a license server you have already installed. If you want to switch to Allplan 2024 and move the license server to a new server, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Moving license server to a new server.

You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license

License server settings used by several computers

Question:

How can I make several computers use the same license server settings?

Answer:

The settings are saved in two files:

  • Lic3LM.ini in C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek
  • Lic3.ini in C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek. To access this user-specific file, use %appdata%/Nemetschek, for example.

Lic3LM.ini in C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek:

This file includes information on server selection, that is to say, the server name and information on whether the ‘Find license server automatically’ option is selected.

What do the values mean?

  • UseWibuList=yes: find license server automatically
  • UseWibuList=no: do not find license server automatically
  • Server=[server_name]: name of license server

For example:

[Environment-1]
UseWibuList=yes
Server=Server01

In this example, the computer is connected with the ‘Server01’ server and the ‘Find license server automatically’ option is selected.

Lic3.ini in C:\Users\[Benutzername]\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek:

This file includes information on which license is preferred or blocked.

What do the values mean?

  • 0: license is not selected
  • 100: license is preferred
  • -100: license is blocked

For example:

[Viewer-1]
view=no
[ConfUi-1]
Page=Select
[Favourite-1]
128-7822048:23:5000505=0
128-7823287:24:5000505=100

In this example, seat 24 is selected (preferred) and seat 23 is not selected.

Note:

Use the Services application -> Utilities -> License settings to create these two files with the required settings on one computer.
You can then transfer these two files to the other computers, thus avoiding incorrect entries.

License server - getting licenses by using VPN

Version:  Allplan 2024, Allplan 2017, Allplan 2019, Allplan 2023, Allplan 2016, Allplan 2020, Allplan 2021, Allplan 2018, Allplan 2022  | Last modified: 27.02.2024 11:04

Question:

How can I use a license server license outside the office (for example, when working with my own computer from home)?

Answer:

Computers that are not on the company network must use a VPN connection to access the server.
You can get licenses from the license server directly over the network or VPN.

Note the following points when you use VPN:
Communication with the license server is by TCP/IP via port 22350.
Make sure that the VPN connection does not switch to sleep mode. Otherwise, it is better to borrow a license by using VPN instead of getting the license directly from the server.
You can use only iPv4 for the VPN connection; iPv6 is not supported by Allplan.
The firewall must be configured on both sides - client and server - so that the connection is allowed. Otherwise, add the port as an exception to the firewall.

Allplan automatically finds the license server on the local network. If you have not selected a license, Allplan automatically selects the first available license.

After having installed Allplan on the clients, you can use the “License Settings” dialog box to configure license selection.
Services application -> Utilities -> License settings
License selection
Find license server automatically:
When you select this option, Allplan automatically detects a license server on the LAN. In some cases, such as VPN connections, Allplan might not be able to detect a server automatically. In this case, you can enter the server manually (see Additional server name).
Note: Only the Windows administrator can change this option.

Additional server name:
If “Find license server automatically” is not selected or Allplan has not automatically found a license server, you can manually enter the name or the IP address of the server. Enter only the name or the IP address of the server; do not enter a UNC path. After having entered the server name, click “Update” to see the licenses of the license server. Use semicolons to separate several server names.

If the license is visible and the connection is stable, you can get the license directly from the server when you start Allplan. If the connection is not stable, we recommend that you borrow a license. To get instructions, use the following link:
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20160523165423.html

Note:
VPN is not useful for common project storage, but you can use VPN to get a license.

License server - activating a license offline on the server

Version:  Allplan 2024, Allplan 2018, Allplan 2019, Allplan 2023, Allplan 2021, Allplan 2022, Allplan 2016, Allplan 2020, Allplan 2017  | Last modified: 27.02.2024 11:06

Question:

Although the server is not connected with the Internet, I would like to activate the license with the Product Key for the license server. What can I do?

Information:

The easiest way to activate and return Allplan licenses is to do this online. In other words, the server has Internet access. However, you can also activate your license on a computer without Internet access (offline licensing).

Requirements for activating a license offline:

  • You have a valid Product Key.
  • The license server is installed on the server. At least license server 2016-1-5 is installed.
You can find detailed information on the version (Build-ID) at bottom on the left in the License Settings program.
  • You have another computer with Internet access.

Important: Activating a license offline involves two steps. In addition, you need to upload a receipt file so that you can return the license offline later.

There are the following basic steps:

  • Creating and uploading the license request file
  • Downloading and importing the license update file
  • Creating and uploading the receipt file

If you have several license server licenses, you need to do this for each license.

The online computer uses the following web page:
http://lc.codemeter.com/59885/depot/index.php

Note:

As both the license file and the receipt file are saved with the name of the container number by default, it may happen that you mix up these two files. Thus, we strongly recommend that you use meaningful names for the files. For example, include the word “license” in the name of the license file and “receipt” in the name of the receipt file.
This is particularly important if you want to activate several licenses offline.

Answer:

Activating licenses offline

To activate licenses, use CodeMeter Control Center.
Start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. An an alternative, go to the Windows search box and type Codemeter.

Select the empty Allplan CM6container (long number starting with 130; gray symbol).
If the container is not available, save the file attached to the C:\Program Files\Allplan GmbH\License Settings folder. Then open this file using the shortcut menu. This imports the empty container to CodeMeter Control Center.

Select the new, empty Allplan CM6 container and click Activate licenseon the right. Select Create license request. Create a *.WibuCmRaC file for this container.

Take this file to a computer that is online. Go to the following web page:
http://lc.codemeter.com/59885/depot/index.php

Enter your Product Keyin the “Ticket” line and click Next. You can now see your license. Click Activate license.

Next, select the Fimcode 6000100area on the right.

You can see your license with all available updates. Make sure everything is selected. Click Offline License Transferat the bottom on the right.

You can now upload the *.WibuCmRaC file (Browse....) by clicking Upload license request now. This creates your license, which you can download by clicking Download license update file now. Install this license on your server.

Question:

You would like to know which colleague has borrowed a license from the license server and for what period of time it was borrowed?

Answer:

Prerequisite:
Please make sure that at least Codemeter version 6.60b is installed on the license server.
To do so, start the CodeMeter Control Center on the server
Either in the Windows Start menu via CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. Or enter Codemeter in the search bar of the start page and press ENTER. Under Help-> About you can see the installed Codemeter version. If a version lower than 6.60b appears here, install the latest version of the Control Center released by Allplan. Instructions on how to do this can be found at the following link https://connect.allplan.com/de/faqid/20160113131406.html

Application:
The administration of the license server is done via the CodeMeter WebAdmin application on the server itself.
Start the CodeMeter Control Center at the license server on the server
Either in the Windows Start menu via CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. Or in the search bar of the start page enter Codemeter
and press ENTER, then click WebAdmin in the dialog box at the bottom right.

Or:
Type Localhost:22350 in the address bar of your browser.

In WebAdmin go to Container -> All Containers -> here select your Allplan Cm6 in which your license/s have been stored -> select the desired license by clicking on the Product Code 999 in front of it. -> Now scroll down to the end, to the License Transfer History area.

Here you can see exactly when the license was borrowed, for how long and by which user.

Hints:
If you want to see which users are currently in the network pulling licenses from the license server, you can also see this. To do this, go to License Monitor-> Sessions in WebAdmin.

Borrowed licenses are currently only displayed with the container number under License Monitor-> Sessions, only under License Transfer History the user is also visible.

Since under License Transfer History it is a complete history, all license loans are listed, even those that have already been terminated, i.e. the license has been returned to the license server in the meantime.

Installing and configuring the license server

Version:  Allplan 2024, Allplan 2022, Allplan 2023  | Last modified: 27.02.2024 12:12

rate

Question:

I purchased the license server. How can I install and configure the license server?

Answer:

Allplan is using since version 2016 a new protection system. Licensing is based on CodeMeter by Wibu Systems AG since then. You can no longer use NemSLock Server with Allplan 2016 and higher.

Allplan requires a Product Key. Using this key, you can activate your license online. The Product Key is a unique, 26-digit character string. You can use it to activate a license for Allplan.
You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect. Go to http://connect.allplan.com/license
Note: The license is downwards compatible til version Allplan 2016-1-4 even if a higher version is displayed.

To install the license server, download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect

The Wibu license server is part of the CodeMeter driver, which is installed along with Allplan. If you have already installed Allplan on the license server, you do not have to install additional software. But you can also install the license server separately; you do not have to install Allplan.
In any case, install and activate the license server before you install Allplan on the clients.

You can activate a license in online mode only if you have ...

  • Internet access
  • a Product Key
  • a license server license; you cannot use other licenses with the license server.

Installing the license server

  • You must install the license server on a 64-bit Windows system.
  • Start License Server Setup on the computer you want to use as the license server.
  • Click Install.
  • Start the license server by starting the License Settings program. Go to the License activation area, enter your Product Key and click Activate license.
  • If you have more licenses for the license server, enter the respective Product Keys and activate the licenses.
  • Afterwards, start CodeMeter Control Center.

To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen: enter Codemeter and press ENTER. A dialog box opens. Click WebAdmin at bottom right.

Or
Enter Localhost:22350in the address bar of your browser.

  • Select Configuration -> Server -> Access server in the Network server area and click Activate.
  • Click Apply.

Configuring the license server (optional)

You can use the CodeMeter WebAdmin application to administer the license server.
To start and stop the license server service, you can use CodeMeter Control Center.

  • CodeMeter Control Center -> Action -> Start or Stop CodeMeter Service

Access control
By default, all users on the LAN, who have installed the CodeMeter driver, can use a license from the license server.

  • Basic access control: you can enter a list of client computer names or IP addresses that are allowed to access the license server.
  • Advanced access control: you can specify global access rules (for all licenses) to control access to the licenses.

License tracking
To activate license tracking, you have to set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIBU-SYSTEMS\CodeMeter\Server\CurrentVersion\LogLicenseTracking registry entry to 1 and restart CodeMeter Service.

After having activated this key, you can use CodeMeter WebAdmin to create a report showing details about the licenses used over a specific period of time. To do this, open CodeMeter WebAdmin and go to the 'Server' - 'License Tracking' page. Select the period of time and the license for which you want to generate a report. Then click 'Create report'. If you click a single bar, you will get detailed analyses per day or per hour.

CodeMeter WebAdmin saves the reports to C:\ProgramData\CodeMeter\Logs.

Installing and configuring clients

Usually the license server license will be detected automatically in the network.
Install Allplan on the clients. There is no license druing setup necessary.
Follow the installation instructions.

  • You do not need to activate the clients.

Allplan automatically finds the license server on the local network. If you have not selected a license, Allplan automatically selects the first available license.

After having installed Allplan on the clients, you can use the 'License Settings' dialog boxto check and configure license selection.
Services application -> Utilities -> License settings

Areas:

  • License activation: this area is not relevant to clients taking their license from the license server.
  • License selection: use this section if you get the license from a license server or if you have several licenses and you want to select the preferred license.
  • Start as a viewer: click this button if you want to start Allplan as a viewer.

License selection

You can see the names of the available licenses with their seat numbers.
The 'Available' column indicates how many licenses are still available. Click the dropdown arrow to see a list of users currently working with a license.

Priority:
Select the check box in front of a license to select this license as a favorite. You can mark as many licenses as you want. Allplan will then prefer these licenses. Click to select one ore more licenses Allplan is not to use. If you do not select any license or if you have selected several favorites, Allplan will automatically use the first free license it finds.

Find license server automatically:
When you select this option, Allplan automatically detects a license server on the LAN. In some cases, such as VPN connections, Allplan may not be able to detect a server automatically. In this case, you can enter the server manually (see Additional server name).
Note: Only the Windows administrator can change this option.

Additional server name:
If 'Find license server automatically' is not active or Allplan has not automatically found a license server, you can manually enter the name or the IP address of the server. If 'Find license server automatically' is active, you can enter an additional server. After having entered the server name, click 'Update' to see the licenses of the license server. Use semicolons to separate several server names.

Note:

You can find detailed information on the license server in the License Settings help (F1 key).

Allplan communicates with the license server via TCP/IP. By default, communication is via Port 22350 unless you change the port in CodeMeter WebAdmin.

If a firewall is active on your computer, you must enable port 22350 for TCP and UDP. If the firewall filters in an application-specific manner, you have to enable the CodeMeter.exe license server service. You can find this service in the %Program Files (x86)%\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin Windows folder. Define the CodeMeter.exe service as an exception in the firewall. Some anti-virus programs also include firewall functions. If you are not sure, contact the manufacturer of the anti-virus program.

Question:

The licensing service crashes regularly or does not start at all. Afterwards, no license is available. How can I solve this problem?

Answer:

Problems with the licensing service may have various causes.

If this problem occurs with specific clients only, you can find the cause on these clients. If this problem occurs with all clients, you can find the cause on the server.
Check the following points:

1. Virus scanner
The Codemeter Runtime Server service is running both on the client and on the server.

If the service is blocked on the client, this is often caused by the virus scanner.
However, this may also happen on the server.

If communication with the Wibu service is blocked, Allplan cannot find the license anymore. This is often caused by the virus scanner.
So, you need to exclude the "Codemeter" folder from virus scans. You can find this folder in the virus scanner in the following path: C:\Program files (X86)\Codemeteror C:\Programs (x86)\Codemeter. You can find the “Codemeter” folder in the following path:C:\Program files\Codemeteror C:\Programs\Codemeter.

Restart the service:

Start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen and enter Codemeter.

CodeMeter Control Center -> Process -> Start CodeMeter Service
If the service is running, stop it and restart it.

2. Update the CodeMeter program
Go to the Wibu website and install CodeMeter User Runtime Version for Windows (64-bit version).
You can find the installation program at https://www.wibu.com/de/anwendersoftware.html

Start the "CodeMeterRuntime.exe" file.
To do this, right-click this file and select
"Run as administrator".
Confirm all messages displayed and the defaults by clicking “Next”.
CodeMeter Control Center will be installed afterwards.

3. Other causes
Open the “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\” or “C:\Windows\SysNative\drivers\” folder and check whether this folder includes a file called "Multikey.sys". You must delete this file.
Before you delete this file, open Windows Device Manager (Control Panel) and check whether a driver called "Virtual USB Multikey X64" is installed.
If this driver is installed, uninstall it
before you delete the "Multikey.sys” file.
If this driver is not installed, delete the "Multikey.sys” file straightaway.

Note:
Sometimes, the system uses the "Multikey.sys” file in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\ folder to emulate a dongle.
This file is blacklisted by Wibu, as it interferes with the Wibu license system.

Sometimes, you can even find the "Virtual USB Multikey x64" device driver when you open Windows Device Manager.
If this driver exists, the "Multikey.sys” file will also exist.

4. Windows
The license server is based on .Net Framework. Allplan uses .NET 4.6. (Allplan 2019 and later will use .NET 4.7). Like any other Windows service, the Codemeter Windows service running on the license server depends on Windows components such as WMI. WMI depends on RPC, and RPC depends on COM distribution.

There may be a bug in Net. Framework of the operating system.
Fixing Net. Framework may solve the problem.

Check Windows Event Viewer and system information for .Net or WMI errors.
.Net may not be installed correctly,
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Windows Logs
Check the application, installation and system.
Windows Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application may include an application error in Allplan licensing. This error may be connected with .Net Framework.
Event ID = 1026 This ID indicates an error which you may fix by repairing the installation of .Net Framework.

Fixing Net. Framework may solve the problem.
Go to the Microsoft Support website at https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/2698555/microsoft-.net-framework-repair-tool-is-available.https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/2698555/microsoft-.net-framework-repair-tool-is-available
There you can find a repair tool for fixing errors in .Net Framework.

Check Windows Event Viewer and system information for .Net or WMI errors.
.Net may not be installed correctly,
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Windows Logs
Check the application, installation and system.

Note:
Do you have a second server? Test the license server on this sever. Install the license server on this server and activate the license there. Use the description at
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20150618134224.html

Question:

How can the "central file storage folder" of an existing Allplan installation be moved to a new server?

General:

Before the changeover, make sure that a current data backup of the central file storage is available.
The data is not moved but copied during the changeover.
To avoid duplicate data storage, all workstations of the existing network installation should be migrated in this way. These instructions apply equally to installations with and without workgroup manager.

Answer:

  1. Before the changeover, create a folder on the new server (e.g. Data) and share this folder with everyone with full access (e.g. as Data). Create a subfolder Allplan under it. (e.g. \\Server\Daten\Allplan).Allplan works with UNC path. This means that for a network installation, a folder must exist for the central file storage on which Allplan 2022 is to be installed, which is shared by all computers.
  2. Exit Allplan on all workstations.
  3. Open the Allplan Diagnostic Tool via Allmenu->Service->Allplan Diagnostics. There you switch to the tab "Settings"
  4. Under the "Workgroup Settings" field press "Browse". In the browser that appears, you can browse for the new share by entering the UNC name of the new server or the complete path at the top and confirming with Enter. Select your new central file storage folder and confirm with OK. Note that if you are using the Workgroup Manager, the new path must be entered in a UNC-compliant way only. (e.g.: \\Servername\ nemdata\2022)
  5. To start the changeover, press the "Set" button. The copy process starts and the configuration is changed. The data is not moved but copied and this workstation is now converted and accesses the new data store.

Note:

To avoid duplicate data storage, all workstations of the existing network installation should now be converted via the same path. For the other workstations, the copying process of the project and STD folder is prevented with a corresponding note, since the routine already recognizes these folders on the new server. only the configurations on the computer are changed.

Important note when using Workgroupmanager if data has been copied in advance via Explorer:

If you have already copied the data from the old server to the new one, only the path will be adjusted in the Diagnostic Tool, because the path already contains the relevant folders "prj" and "std" and "net". I.e. the important files which are relevant for the workgroup manager are not adapted and must be edited afterwards absolutely by hand!

Changes on the server
Enter the new server name in the following files on the new server. You can find these files in the NET folder, which is a subfolder of the central file storage folder. You can open the files in an editor and edit them there.

data.cfg
· Enter the server name in CAPITAL LETTERS (also applies to user.cfg and project.dat!), for example, SERVER.
· Do not delete the blanks after the server name.
· If the share name or folder name has changed, you need to enter the new name after the blanks.

user.cfg
· Since Allplan 2014 this file is encrypted and is saved in ANSI format
· Open the files with editor. After the = change the server name to new name, use CAPITAL LETTERS (without any blanks).
· When finished click on file in the left top and chose save file as
· File name: user.cfg
· File type: text file (*.txt)
· Encyryption(Coding): ANSI
· Save

Note: if the server name is not shown in user.cfg please contact us again by sending your fuser.cfg and the new server name.

project.dat
· Rename the "project.dat.xml" file "project.alt.xml".
· Then go to step "2. Changes on the workstations". Complete the process for one workstation!
· When you have finished, do the following:
Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> reorg -> Restore project management file -> OK

5. Check the availability of all projects that are not online (if you use Workgroup Manager):
Start Allplan, open the ‘File’ menu and select ‘New Project, Open Project’. Deactivate ‘Check availability of all offline projects’.

6. Virus scanner
Check whether an anti-virus program is running in the background of the computer or server.
If so, reduce protection to "programs only".

Scanning "all files" can take a long time, considerably slowing down your computer when you switch between projects or exit the program.
You can exclude the Allplan installation folders from real-time scanning. When you start the Services application, you can see a list of the folders to be excluded.
You can find more information at
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20091126145752.html
Changes in the settings of the virus scanner only come into effect when you re-start the computer.

7. Aero desktop effects
Deactivate the Aero desktop effects of Windows.
To do this, open the Control Panel, select ‘Ease of Access’ and go to the ‘Make things on the screen easier to see’ area.
Select the ‘Turn off all unnecessary animations (when possible)’ option.

8. Name resolution on the network
If Allplan takes several minutes to start, name resolution on the network may not work.
To check this, do the following:
Right-click the Windows Start Button, select ‘Run’, type in ‘cmd’, click OK, type in ‘Nslookup’ and press ENTER.
Go to the line following the > character, type in the name of the Allplan data server and press ENTER.
The reply starts with the name and address of the server providing name resolution.
You can find the name and address of the Allplan data server in the second group.
If problems occur, contact your network administrator and ask him or her to configure name resolution correctly.

9. Speed of Allplan projects
Check whether some Allplan projects are slower than other Allplan projects.
Start with the empty project and check whether it is slow too.
After this, select any other Allplan project.

If it is only the current project that is slow, the problem may be caused by the data of the current project.
In this case, the data of this project must be analyzed in detail.
Contact technical support.

10. Network: checking out Allplan using Workgroup Manager
If you use Allplan with Workgroup Manager, you can check whether the problems are caused by the network. To do this, check out the workstation with the project in question and use the project on the local Allplan workstation.
You can find detailed information on checking out an Allplan workstation using Workgroup Manager in the
Services application. Open the ‘Help’ and select ‘Workgroup Manager’.

After you have checked out the workstation, Allplan no longer accesses the central file storage of the server.
If this has solved the problems, they are caused by the network. In this case, the network must be checked in detail.
Contact your network administrator and ask him or her to do this.

If the project is still slow, the problem may be caused by the data of the current project.
In this case, the data of this project must be analyzed in detail.
Contact technical support.

11. Log files and system information files
If all the points above do not solve the problems, technical support requires more system information about the computer running Allplan.

  • So, we would be grateful if you could send us a support request (Allplan Hotinfo with Allplan logging).
To create a support request, start the Services application, open the ‘Service’ menu and select ‘Create support request (Hotinfo)’.
Several dialog boxes open. Select ‘Technical Support Allplan’ and ‘Enquiry with Allplan logging’. Enter all the data required. Finally, click ‘Finish’.
Another dialog box opens, prompting you to start Allplan. Click the ‘Start Allplan’ button.
    Allplan starts, logging all processes.
Try to reproduce the problem as exactly as possible.
Exit Allplan as soon as possible, reducing the data in the log file to a minimum.
Then click ‘Next’ to generate the support request with the log file.
You can find more information about Hotinfo at
    https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20140528094911.html
  • To analyze the Windows system environment, we would ask you to send us the logs created by Windows Event Viewer of your computer.
To start Windows Event Viewer, right-click the Windows Start Button, select ‘Run’ and type in ‘eventvwr.msc’.
You can also type in ‘Event Viewer’ in the search box of Windows. This displays the link file to the Windows event logs.
Using Event Viewer, create *.evtx files for the application log and the system log in the ‘Windows Logs’ area and for the ‘Administrative Events’ log in the ‘Custom Views’ area.

Question:

How can I set up a computer where I can archive projects I do not need regularly?

Answer:

If you work with Workgroup Manager, you can add computers to the workgroup (Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administer projects and computers).

Initial situation:
You have set up a workgroup environment
and a computer you want to use as the archive. You do not need to install Allplan on this computer.

Preparation:
Create a new folder (..\Archive) on the archive computer. Share this new folder.
Create a subfolder (..\Allplan) in this new folder. Then create two more subfolders (..\PRJ and ..\USR) in the ..\Allplan subfolder.

Adding the archive folder to the workgroup:
Open the Services application and select
Workgroup Manager -> Administer projects and computers.
In the 'Remote projects' column on the left, right-click in the empty white space. The shortcut menu opens. Select
Add any computer to Allplan Workgroup
Find the archive computer in the list. Select the 'Archive' folder you just created and shared as well as the 'Allplan' subfolder.

Archiving:
Move the projects you want to archive to the archive computer. You can use drag-and-drop operations or 'Cut' and 'Paste' on the shortcut menu.

Summary:

  • Using the admin tools, you can move projects to the archive computer.
  • You do not need to back up the archive folder every day, as you do not edit the projects.
  • It is not necessary that the computer is up and running.
  • Switch on the archive computer before you upgrade. When you convert the project data of all projects, Allplan includes archived projects, making sure all projects are up-to-date.
  • You can now use the project filter in Allplan to access the archive computer. To do this, open the File menu -> New Project, Open Project. Open the project filter and add all the computers of which you want to see the projects to the filter conditions.

Note:

You cannot create the archive folder on the server with the Allplan data, as you can add only one shared folder per computer.

Workgroup Manager: checking out computer and working with user privileges

Question:

How can I check out a computer and continue to work as a normal CAD user with my usual settings and permissions?

Answer:

Install the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" driver.
This driver is necessary so that network services are running on the computer all the time.
Go to Allplan Connect for a detailed description: https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/000162ae.html

Sign in as the Allplan administrator to the computer.

Step 1: add the computer to workgroup manager
You must add the computer to the workgroup so that you can store data (data server) on this computer. Do the following:

Create data folders:
Create a folder - for example, “Nemdata” - on the computer and share it (full control).
Create the “Allplan” subfolder in this folder. Create two subfolders - “usr” and “prj” - in the Allplan folder.
In this example: “...\Nemdata\Allplan\prj” and “...\Nemdata\Allplan\usr”

To share a folder for the Allplan file storage

  1. Start File Explorer on the computer that you want to use for file storage and switch to the folder that you want to share (in this example, the “Nemdata” folder).
  2. Right-click the folder that you want to share and select Give access to -> Specific peopleon the shortcut menu.
  3. Select Everyoneand click Share.

Add computer:

  1. Start the Services application as the workgroup administrator.
  2. Click and select Manage computers and projects.
  3. Click the Add any computer to Allplan workgroupicon and select the computer that you want to add.
  4. Select the “Allplan” subfolder under the share and click “OK” to confirm. This computer is now listed under workgroup server.

Note:If you have problems adding the computer to workgroup manager, read the following instructions:
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20200317162849.html

Step 2: define project owner
A user can only move a project if the user is the owner of this project.
The ownership of a project can only be changed by an Allplan administrator (or the owner of the project).
Allplan -> File -> ProjectPilot ->
Go to the “Projects” node, right-click the required project and click Propertieson the shortcut menu.
Define the owner.

Step 3: move projects
Sign in as the user who wants to check out the computer.
Select the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Manage computers and projects.
Click the main server and select the project that you want to move.
Drag the projects one after the other to the computer to be checked out.

Important note: You can take projects with you in several ways.

1. You move the project to the computer.
Move project: Drag the project to the destination computer, or open the shortcut menu of the project and click “Cut”. After this, open the shortcut menu of the destination computer and click “Paste”.
After you have checked in the computer, move the project back to the server so that it is available to all and included in backups again.

2. You copy projects. Click a project, select and hold the Ctrl key and drag the project to the destination computer. Or: Open the shortcut menu of the project and click “Copy”. After this, open the shortcut menu of the destination computer and click “Paste”.

You can continue in two ways: Lock the original project on the server to protect it from changes. Consequently, nobody in the office can work on this project, but it is still on the server. When you check in the computer again, you unlock the project on the server, delete the project and copy your copy back to the server if you have changed the project.
Alternatively, both projects remain active. Consequently, both the project copied and the original on the server can be worked on. In this case, however, you must adjust the data manually when you are back in the office by copying the changed drawing files of the projects by using ProjectPilot.

Step 4: check out the computer
Select the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Manage computers and projects.
Click your computer and then click Check outin the lower-right area.
Confirm the message that tells you that there are still user folders on the computer to be checked out.
Enter a comment and click OK. Users in the office see this comment when they try to access a project that is on the computer that is checked out.
Specify the parts of the office standard you want to copy to the computer and click OK to confirm.
The first time you check out the computer, you must copy the office standard once so that the entire STD folder is on this computer. This is no longer necessary when you check out the computer afterward because the contents of the STD folder do not change very often.

Conclusion:

You can now remove the computer from the network and work on your projects when you are out of the office. To make sure that the projects are not changed in the office in the meantime, the projects that are on the computer checked out are locked for the CAD users on the network. These users see the comment you entered when you checked out the computer.

Question:

Allplan is installed so that the projects (central file storage folder) are on the server. Consequently, Allplan requires a stable and permanent connection to the server. How can I prevent the network interface card from interrupting this connection?

Answer:

There is usually a setting in the power management of the network interface card that allows the operating system to temporarily turn off the network interface card if the user has not done anything for a certain time. If this happens while Allplan is running, there is the danger that current drawing files will not be saved correctly on the server. This may lead to damaged drawing files you cannot open any more.

To prevent this, you can turn off this setting. Please do the following:

Windows 8.1:
Right- click the Start button -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.

Windows 7:
Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.

Windows XP:
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.

How to handle licenses when upgrading to Allplan 2023

Question:

What license issues do I need to consider when upgrading from Allplan 2020/2021/2022 to Allplan 2023?

Answer:

Installation options during Setups

Upgrade - program update with transfer of all project data, office and user settings.
The existing Allplan installation is upgraded to version 2023. If several Allplan versions are installed, only the latest version will be suggested for upgrade.  Projects, office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2020/2021/2022 to Allplan 2023. Allplan 2020/2021/2022 is then no longer available.

New installation without transfer of project data, office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are not transferred to version 2023. You can import projects after installation using the following Allplan function:
New project, open-> Import projects.

New installation with transfer of office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2020/2021/2022 to version 2023.
Project new, open-> Import projects.

Depending on the licensing system you use, you need to consider different points.

There is no license request when installing Allplan 2023. Therefore, make sure in advance that your licenses are also suitable for this version, e.g. by purchase or a valid service contract.

1. Upgrade Allplan 2023 – stand-alone workstation

Your license for Allplan 2023 will be updated after installation, when you start Allplan 2023 for the first time. Start Allplan 2023 and you will be prompted to update the license. Select "Update now" here. The license is updated online. You can then start Allplan 2023 directly or close the license window.

Note: To install Allplan 2023 on a new computer, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Transferring license to a new computer.

You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license

2. Upgrading Allplan 2023 with a license server

If you want to switch to Allplan 2023 and move the license server to a new server, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Moving license server to a new server.

You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license

Downloading licenses from Allplan Connect

You can also obtain your activation codes for Allplan 2022 IBD in the Allplan Connect service portal.
To do this, click Profile > License Management.
You can only use this function as an administrator.

Workgroup Manager: Problems when checking in or out computers

Version:  Allplan 2020, Allplan 2022, Allplan 2021, Allplan 2023, Allplan 2019, Allplan 2024  | Last modified: 27.02.2024 14:03

Question:

I can neither check in nor check out the computer.
When I try to check in the computer, the following error message appears: “The registry entries are not correct!” How can I correct this error?

Answer:

There is a hidden file on the server. This file causes the problem, which is probably related to user rights or user account control.

You have to change the settings directly on the server, that is so say, you have to use the folder options to show all hidden folders and files.

1. Open the central file storage folder on the server. There is a subordinate folder called
NET. This folder contains the computer_name.out file. Here, computer_name is the name of the computer that is checked out.
Delete this file.

2. Open the shared folder (for example, C:\Nemdata\Allplan) on the computer that is checked out.
Allplan 2015 and earlier: Delete the Net.ChkOutfolder.
Allplan 2016 and later: Delete the NETfolder.

Now the computer is checked in again. Consequently, you can move projects to this computer
or check it out once more.

Note:

If the computer or the projects are still red, you have to fix the projects.

To fix the projects:
Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Administer projects and computers

Do the following:

Ctrl + right-click computer
-> can be checked in
Ctrl + right-click project-> can be unlocked

Repeat this step to unlock every project on the computer.
When you have finished, close the dialog box and open it again to update it.
Now everything should be correct.

Workgroupmanager: Adding the computer is not possible

Question:

You want to include a computer in the Allmenu via Workgroupmanager, but no network environment is displayed and no result appears when you enter the computer name in Search. How can the computer still be included?

Answer:

All computers included in the Workgroupmanager are stored in the data.cfg on the server in the central file storage request.
The Allmenu window shows the exact path of the "central file storage folder".

e.g. \\SERVER\data\Allplan
Go via Windows Explorer to the central file storage folder in the NET folder and open the file data.cfg (e.g. with the editor)

The content of the file looks like this
SERVER \data\Allplan

(So far no computer has been included and therefore there are no further entries in this example)

Here you can enter the new path of the computer to be recorded
Simply enter the computer name, spacebar, shared folder, subfolder as a new line.
Enter only your simple host name here, not the FQDN name (first name only, without periods and other additions)

Please make sure that all entries are flush with each other. Please do not remove the space bars in existing entries and also insert a space bar after the host name when entering, these are important.

So it looks like this

SERVER \data\Allplan
COMPUTERNAME \Nemdata\Allplan

Save the file.

As a result, the computers in the workgroup are displayed in the Allmenu/Services application under Workgroupmanager - > Administer projects and computers and can now be checked out.

Switching to a new server (Allplan 2014 and higher)

Question:

How can I move the "central file storage folder" of an Allplan installation to a new server?

Note:

The procedure described below is not approved by Allplan. Do this at your own risk.
You are strongly advised to clarify all issues in advance.
If you are not sure what to do, we recommend that you uninstall and reinstall Allplan or consult technical support.
Always copy a file before you change it.

Answer:

A. General information
Copy the "central file storage folder" from the old server to the new server.
You can find this folder under a shared folder.
Create the same folder structure and share (including the share name) on the new server, making things easier for you. However, this is not mandatory.

B. Allplan installation with Workgroup Manager

2. Changes on the workstations
On each workstation, you must adjust a value using the registry editor.

Switch to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Nemetschek\Allplan\'version number'\InstallRoot

In the "NetDrive" value, enter the new server name and the new share name, for example, \\SERVER\Nemdata.
In the "NetPath" value, enter changes in the subfolders, for example, \Nemetschek\Allplan.
Together NetDrive and NetPath define the valid path of the "central file storage folder" on the new server, for example, \\SERVER\Nemdata\Nemetschek\Allplan.

C. Allplan installation without Workgroup Manager
If Workgroup Manager is not installed, use the procedure described in B. You can ignore step "1. Changes on the server".

D. In addition: check the licensing system you are using!

Standalone license:
If you run Allplan using standalone licenses, there are no particular issues to bear in mind.

Wibu license server:
If you want to use the license server also on the new server, you need to return the license on the old server. Install license server on new server and activate the license on the new server again. You can find detailed instructions at:
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20150618134224.html

Note: If you want to create an image of the server or virtualize the server, please contact the technical support team.

Switching the license server from hardlock to NemSLock

Version:  Allplan , Allplan 2012  | Last modified: 27.02.2024 14:12

rate

Question:

How can I switch the license server from hardlock to NemSLock?

Answer:

  • If you have not yet requested the switch, please send a short email to "nemslock@nemetschek.de". Describe your request briefly and include your customer number and the seat number(s) you want to switch. Bear in mind that switching may take up to two working days.
  • Before you install, check whether you have all the necessary files:
  • At least one temporary license for NemSLock Server, for example: 1234567a_001_psd.nslsrv
  • At least one temporary license for the client, for example: 1234567a_001_psd_client.nslock
  • You can download the Setup program from our FTP server:
    ftp://nemhotline:ha37jvg8f@ftp.nemetschek.de/download/Allplan/Lizenzserver/2012/Allplan2012-nemslock12.zip

How to install NemSLock Server

  • Start the Setup program for NemSLock Server.
  • Select one of the temporary license files for NemSLock Server. These licenses are valid for 30 days. However, each license includes only one seat of each configuration purchased. The full number of seats purchased will be available to you as soon as you have installed the registered licenses (see below). If you purchased a configuration for one seat only, you will, of course, receive only one temporary license.
  • If you received several license files, use the Server Console to install these additional licenses as described in the section entitled "How to install licenses".

How to register licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console by clicking the corresponding icon on the desktop or by selecting Start -> All Programs -> NemSLock 2006 Server -> NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click "Licenses" on the left.
  • Select the seat you want to register. If your license contains several configurations, please see the notes further down.
  • Click "Registration request (register.txt)".
  • Click "Edit".
  • You must fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Make sure you enter your email address correctly, because the registered license file will be sent to this address (and not to the address of the person who sent the registration request!). Click OK to confirm.
  • Click “Send”. The standard email program installed on your computer opens, and the registration file is attached to the email.
Send this email with the registration request to the following address: register@nemetschek.de.

Notes:

  • If the email program does not start or you computer does not have Internet access, you can also send the register.txt file manually to Allplan. Click “Browse”. Windows Explorer starts and opens the folder with the registration file. Now you can use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer with Internet access and so on.
  • If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must send a separate registration request for each seat. You will then receive a registered license file for each seat. You must install each file.
  • The registered licenses you receive by email are valid for 14 days, starting from the day of registration. Please return the dongle within this period of 14 days. As soon as we have received the dongle, we will send you the unlimited licenses.

How to install licenses

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click “Stop server” on the left.
  • Click "Modules" on the left.
  • Click ”Browse” to navigate to the registered license file.
  • Click “Install license file”.
  • You can then start the server again by clicking “Start server”.

How to set up users
You do not need to enter a user for the license server version on the Allplan 2009 (Build 50) DVD or later. In this case, every user can do everything: retrieve licenses, check out licenses and manage data using the console. If you want to limit these options or if you are working with an older version of NemSLock Server, you need to set up users.

There are two options: Both options are described in detail in "Installing and configuring NemSLock Server". This section shows how to use the Server Console to set up users directly.

  • Open NemSLock 2006 Server Console.
  • Click “Users” on the left.
  • Create a new user by clicking the “New user” button. In addition to the Windows user name, you need to enter a description of the user. You can also assign administrator privileges for the license server to the user and grant him/her the right to temporarily export licenses from the license server. Furthermore, you can limit the seats the user can select. To do this, click "Seats". Otherwise, the user can select any license.

Be careful:

  • As long as you have not appointed an administrator, each user can manage the license server using the console, including users who are not entered in the console.
  • The Windows user "administrator" is not a special user; in other words, when one or more users have been appointed administrators, this user can no longer start the console for this license server.
  • Only registered users can retrieve licenses from the license server using a client.
  • You can enter users in the “Users.mcf” file. If the license server service is terminated, the file deleted and the service started again, each user can again use the console to manage the license server.

How to install and configure clients

  • Use one of the nslock license files you received to install the clients. Do not use the trial license or the license server license. It is irrelevant which of the client licenses you use, as the actual license will come from the license server later.
  • You do not need to register the clients.
  • When switching from Hardlock to NemSLock (server), you need to update the client using a nslock license file.

After having installed the client, you need to switch to the license server:

  • Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager
  • If the license server window is hidden, click "Server" at the bottom. It is a good idea to lock this window. All you need to do is click the drawing pin icon.
  • Enter the computer name or IP address of the license server in the empty box. Then click the "Update” icon to the right.
  • Now the user can select one of the seats provided. Click "Close" to complete the configuration. Now you can start Allplan.

Notes:

  • If a user selects several configurations for a seat and starts Allplan, the license server will provide the required licenses; in other words, starting Allplan once might require two licenses. Consequently, fewer licenses are available to other users.
  • Clients communicate with the server by TCP/IP via port 10977. So you need to configure the firewall accordingly.

How to return the dongle
Return the dongle as agreed. As soon as we have received the dongle, we will send you the unlimited server licenses by email. Use the Server Console to install these licenses on the license server as described in "How to install licenses".
