Avoiding an interruption of the network connection
Question:
Allplan is installed so that the projects (central file storage folder) are on the server. Consequently, Allplan requires a stable and permanent connection to the server. How can I prevent the network interface card from interrupting this connection?
Answer:
There is usually a setting in the power management of the network interface card that allows the operating system to temporarily turn off the network interface card if the user has not done anything for a certain time. If this happens while Allplan is running, there is the danger that current drawing files will not be saved correctly on the server. This may lead to damaged drawing files you cannot open any more.
To prevent this, you can turn off this setting. Please do the following:
Windows 8.1:
Right- click the Start button -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.
Windows 7:
Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.
Windows XP:
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.
