[Question] Allplan 2018 - Cut 3D lines, in a plan view

Hi,

In Allplan 2018, there are several tools to cut 2D sectors, 3D solids, but... how to cut "3D lines" in a plan view?

Thanks, and best regards,
Xavier Coll

Hi Xavi,

you are right. Some polylines won´t be cutted. Took me half an hour to clean the leftovers. I had to gain up maximum docsize, move it to point zero, turn it to right angle and ctrl+x/ctrl+alt+v it a couple of times. Then there were about 20 polylines left.

Hi!

Thanks, for your answer! It works for "3D lines" and "3D polylines" with Z=0.
But this tool don't works for "3D lines" and "3D polylines" with Z not equal to 0....

Best regards

Hi,

this function works
in the german version it is called
"Zwei Elemente verschneiden" and "Mit Clipping" activatet.

Requirement is that the lines really have a point of intersection.

greetings
Christian

ich habe zwar keine lösung, bewundere aber das problem!

Hi Xavi,

I cannot confirm, that "Cut with Plane" doesn't work for 3D-lines with z not equal to 0.
It works for arbitrary 3d-lines. May be the function will be not correctly used by you.

Regards Jörg

I can confirm that it works correctly. even in the V2017

Hi all!

Thanks for your answers, DerAchim, abSpahn and Nemo.

Well, in our tests, we can cut 3D line or 3d-polyline, if all them are touching itself (between cutting element and the element to be cutted).

I will try to explain our scope:
1- Source: a topography, with 3D-polylines with z values
2- Scope: a topography, with 3D-polylines (with z values) cutted by a 2D square (in one click, If it's possible)

I upload an image with topography and 2D square.

Thanks to all,
Xavier Coll

if I understand correctly use the boolean tool "difference" (don´t know the english name - obj1 minus obj2) for this. It also works with polylines, at least with simple ones:

Please first try a simple geometry, maybe yours is too complex.

1. build an object (e.g. a cube) which covers the area you want to delete
2. activate the boolean tool - allplan asks for the object which you want to cut. But sum function is possible
3. start sum funcion
4. activate the 3d polylines you want to cut (the two polygon lines in "Boolean1")
5. end sum
6. Allplan asks for the cutting objects - click your object of point 1

Hi Schmidberg!

Thanks for your answer. I tested your answer, but the boleean tool in Allplan 2018.0.2 (spanish version) didn't works as expected.
It was tested in 4 computers, and in our office is not possible....

The boolean tool, in our Allplan:
- Don't detect "3D lines" and "3D polylines"
- Don't let us to do "Sum function" (right mouse button)

I upload a video, and NDW file.

Hi xavi,

it ist very easy:

1. create box as 3D-solid with your 2D-(cutting)-rectangle as outline, height can be for instance 10 m
2. perform "Cut with plane" where you select all 3D-polylines and then one of the side-faces of your box as cuttin plane
3. delete all parts of polylines, which are outside of our box
4. goto 2. and repeat with another side face

works very well!
