Being in charge of road management and traffic management, Hessen Mobil plans, builds, maintains, and manages the whole road network out of villages and towns in the state of Hesse. Consequently, Hessen Mobil is responsible for about 17,000 kilometers of road network, ranging from district road to federal highway. Being a state authority, the headquarters of Hessen Mobil are in Wiesbaden; local representative offices can be found at twelve other locations throughout the state of Hesse. In addition, a total of 60 road maintenance authorities are part of Hessen Mobil. Hessen Mobil spends more than 700,000 euros a year on new construction and maintenance of roads, focusing on the planning and construction of the federal highways A44, A45, and A49.
