Graphics cards for Allplan
Question:
What graphics cards can be used with Allplan?
Answer:
Generally, the graphics cards of the two large manufacturers - NVIDIA and AMD (ATI) - can be divided into two product lines each:
- Graphics cards designed for CAD (NVIDIA: Quadro / AMD (ATI): Fire)
- Graphics cards designed for other applications (games, office) - "consumer level" (NVIDIA: GeForce / AMD (ATI): Radeon)
The performance and price of the individual product lines and models vary considerably.
In Allplan, the differences in performance become evident in the following situations:
- Graphics engine, a hardware-based graphics accelerator for designing in Allplan, which is important for large volumes of data.
- Animation
Nemetschek Allplan tests current graphics cards and certifies those that can be used with Allplan.
The section that follows provides information on various situations.

Explanations of the messages issued for graphics cards:
Warning: The graphics board is a consumer-level card (see log). Although it supports the hardware requirements for ..., it is not optimized for CAD systems.
-> The graphics engine works with this card. Please read the following notes:

Warning: The graphics board 'XXX' causes problems.
-> The graphics engine does not work with this card. Allplan runs in "GDI+" mode. large volumes of data considerably slow down the performance of the computer.
Allplan Connect also helps you determine whether a specific graphics card can be used (see above).
