I'm working in a project with a coleague who lives in a different city. I'd like to know if we can create a project in a virtual folder, like Dropbox, so we can both work on the project at the same time, instead of just sharing ndw files.
Are Allplan users limited to have the projects only in the folder defined when they first installed Allplan?

Creating project in Dropbox
Hi MiguelArq,
Actually, there is no really to work in a cloud or in dropbox. But there is some other possibility.
Of course, we can work in Workgroup Manager in Allplan, but it's necessary to use the same network. So if we can create a network with a very good broadband between user on the network it could be possible.
One thing is important, when we work in Allplan, Allplan check everytime the folder STD and other...
So each time we create something even in 2D, there is control in the STD.
If the network is not so good, this can take a long time to be check!
Other possibility:
1°) There is posibility to use Citrix systeme or Terminal Server on WMware. (In my opinion, no a realy solution against the virtual hardware...)
2°) Work separetly: You must work localy and forword your file at each modification.
There is a good possibility to export/import only drawing file in Allplan.
On File/Export/Export file with ressources. This will create a zip file whichis easy to send and import.
You don't need to send all the project, just the modification!

About the other request, it's possible to setup other folder for data. And you can switch easily between folder via a key of register file.
It's not necessary to uninstall or reinstall.
Good Use!

Hello.
Is there any evolution about Workgroupmanager + Dropbox since 2012 ?
I am sure more and more people will need such a solution in future.
Hi Miguel,
Since Allplan 2014 there's Workgroup Online, which connects remote computers on same project via FTP/FTPS protocol.
Check Allplan Connect Documentation folder for proper setup.
You can also connect to Office projects via VPN.
Have you actually tried Dropbox? I should work, but like every online connection its usability depends on connection speed and latency.
BR,
Janez
