Allplan Forum: Allplan 2018 - Export IFC - Add or edit "Classifications"

Hi,

We are working in several projects for Public Administration in UK, and one of the deliverable requirements is to export to IFC with specific Classifications for the elements (UK has is own constructive classification system).

We need to change / edit / add "Classifications" in Allplan: see attached image.

Is it possible in Allplan? how to do it?

Hi Xavier.

It's just a workaround which implies simple IFC editing, and I have not needed to test it on a real project so far, but this might help:

1. In Allplan you use one of the predefined classification attributes, which you don't need for anything else in your project, for example "UNSPSC" Code and Name. Just fill out the attribute values with your desired classification values.

2. Export your IFC-File, open it in a text editor, search for "IFCCLASSIFICATION(" (<-- with the bracket) and substitute "UNSPSC" with the name of your classification system.

3. Then you exchange all occurencies of 'https://www.unspsc.org/' with 'https://www..XYZ...' or just '', save the modified file and your classification system appears in Solibri.

Hi Xavier,

no, it is currently not possible. We support only the Classifications which are already there.

For correct Transfer of Classification to IFC you need also some additional Information, like Release Date of the Classification System, Catalogue Links, … what is all automatically hardcoded generated now and written to IFC. So to achieve this for Custom classifications, we need a different approach to it in Future.
