[Frage] Allplan 2018 - Export IFC - Add or edit "Classifications"

Hi,

We are working in several projects for Public Administration in UK, and one of the deliverable requirements is to export to IFC with specific Classifications for the elements (UK has is own constructive classification system).

We need to change / edit / add "Classifications" in Allplan: see attached image.

Is it possible in Allplan? how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Xavier.

It's just a workaround which implies simple IFC editing, and I have not needed to test it on a real project so far, but this might help:

1. In Allplan you use one of the predefined classification attributes, which you don't need for anything else in your project, for example "UNSPSC" Code and Name. Just fill out the attribute values with your desired classification values.

2. Export your IFC-File, open it in a text editor, search for "IFCCLASSIFICATION(" (<-- with the bracket) and substitute "UNSPSC" with the name of your classification system.

3. Then you exchange all occurencies of 'https://www.unspsc.org/' with 'https://www..XYZ...' or just '', save the modified file and your classification system appears in Solibri.

You might want to have a look at Allplan 2020, there's a new way of handling/changing IFC attributes. I haven't had the time to take a detailed look yet, so I can't say for sure if it fits your needs. The support team should be able to tell you more soon.

Any news about classifications?

I test this new functionality in Allplan 2020.0.1, but in the Exported IFC, there is no any classification.

I upload a video to explain it.

Thanks to all!

Hi,

Classification is in IFC not a Property, it is a Relation to the Entity (alike the Material). So PropertyMapping cannot be used to create a Classification. We just support the Export of the Systems you find under the Category Classification in Allplan Attributes.

Hola Xavier.

I think this is a wall-specific problem.
When I export a column to IFC4 from Allplan 2020 the classification is created correctly in the IFC file, but not so for a wall object.

It is probably related to this topic:

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your answer! What version of Allplan do you use? I just tried an export to IFC 2x3 and IFC 4, and it seems that the classifications added to the layers of a wall work (not applying classifications to the entire wall).

Best Regards!

Hi Thomas,

In Allplan, is it possible to create new classifications? For example, GuBIMclass is a standard classification for some public administrations in Spain.

Thanks a best regards,
