[Frage] Classification of objects – e.g. Omniclass

Schlagworte:
  • Classification; Catalogues; BIM

Hi All,
in Allplan you can find the possibility to assign BIM Classification to any object. The problem is that the classification catalogue is empty, you have to type it in manually.

In our country is ArchiCAD very widespread among architects. For ArchiCAD you can download content packages which are available in XML format. See their website: https://graphisoft.com/downloads/archicad/bim_data

Does anyone know a workflow on how to import this (or similar) data into Allplan?
In general, is there any documentation, video, webinar, etc. on how to most effectively deal with material catalogs to use them in Allplan?

Thanks for your answers!
Gábor

Hi Gabor,

It is possible if you can assign a catalog to these attributes, otherwise you have to enter them manually.

Hello, it would be nice to be able to assign classification attributes from a list. Right now, as you say, they have to be assigned manually. Furthermore, for these attributes to work correctly in the exported IFC model, each object is required to have two classification attributes assigned to it, the Code and the Description. They must always go in pairs. Therefore, this forces us to fill in two different attributes with the consequent possibility of user error. It would be interesting to be able to have in Allplan that the selection lists were in two or more columns, where you can choose a value and also see its description next to it, to help us to understand what attribute value is. And specifically in the classification attributes, when selecting, for example, the Code, the Description would automatically be filled in.
Also would be nice too, that we could also have several personalized classification systems, not just one, and we could also change the name of the classification system, not “undefined” name, which is what now appear in the IFC model.
By the way, I notice that in the Custom classification system the Description and Code are inverted. The “Custom Classification Code” attribute should be “Custom Classification Description” and viceversa. Now when we exporting to IFC they appear with the crossed values.
