I just imported a 2D dwg, with a land survey. I have the points with a text, showing the altitude of each point.
I could put a point symbol with the correct hight, to generate a DTM, but it will take hours (there's hundreds of points). Is there any form to automaticaly generate DTM point symbols, getting the height from the text?
From my experience there is no possibility to take the text from a drawing and use it to set a point symbol's height.
I think the only chance is to have a table with the coordinates and create an *.asc file like in the pages 116-119 of the geodesy tutorial. Unfortunetaly it looks quite complicated.

I searched the web and I found a Lisp that does exactly what I wanted (I kept my Autocad 2000, just in case, Lisp was the feature I loved most).
I tried your suggestion, getting an ascii file was easy, I justed cleaned the drawing and exported it as dxf.
The problem was to make the table, as the file has the coordinates by lines rather than columns, so I could easely replace de Z coordinates by the text values. And the drawing has more than 2500 points.
Autocad still comes in handy sometimes ;)
