Switching to a new server (Allplan 2014 and higher)
Question:
How can I move the "central file storage folder" of an Allplan installation to a new server?
Note:
The procedure described below is not approved by Allplan. Do this at your own risk.
You are strongly advised to clarify all issues in advance.
If you are not sure what to do, we recommend that you uninstall and reinstall Allplan or consult technical support.
Always copy a file before you change it.
Answer:
A. General information
Copy the "central file storage folder" from the old server to the new server.
You can find this folder under a shared folder.
Create the same folder structure and share (including the share name) on the new server, making things easier for you. However, this is not mandatory.
B. Allplan installation with Workgroup Manager
1. Changes on the server
Enter the new server name in the following files on the new server. You can find these files in the NET folder, which is a subfolder of the central file storage folder. You can open the files in an editor and edit them there.
data.cfg
· Enter the server name in CAPITAL LETTERS (also applies to user.cfg and project.dat!), for example, SERVER.
· Do not delete the blanks after the server name.
· If the share name or folder name has changed, you need to enter the new name after the blanks.
user.cfg
· Since Allplan 2014 this file is encrypted and is saved in ANSI format
· Open the files with editor. After the = change the server name to new name, use CAPITAL LETTERS (without any blanks).
· When finished click on file in the left top and chose save file as
· File name: user.cfg
· File type: text file (*.txt)
· Encyryption(Coding): ANSI
· Save
Note: if the server name is not shown in user.cfg please contact us again by sending your fuser.cfg and the new server name.
project.dat
· Rename the "project.dat.xml" file "project.alt.xml".
· Then go to step "2. Changes on the workstations". Complete the process for one workstation!
· When you have finished, do the following:
Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> reorg -> Restore project management file -> OK
2. Changes on the workstations
On each workstation, you must adjust a value using the registry editor.
Switch to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Nemetschek\Allplan\'version number'\InstallRoot
In the "NetDrive" value, enter the new server name and the new share name, for example, \\SERVER\Nemdata.
In the "NetPath" value, enter changes in the subfolders, for example, \Nemetschek\Allplan.
Together NetDrive and NetPath define the valid path of the "central file storage folder" on the new server, for example, \\SERVER\Nemdata\Nemetschek\Allplan.
C. Allplan installation without Workgroup Manager
If Workgroup Manager is not installed, use the procedure described in B. You can ignore step "1. Changes on the server".
D. In addition: check the licensing system you are using!
Standalone license:
If you run Allplan using standalone licenses, there are no particular issues to bear in mind.
Wibu license server:
If you want to use the license server also on the new server, you need to return the license on the old server. Install license server on new server and activate the license on the new server again. You can find detailed instructions at:
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20150618134224.html
Note: If you want to create an image of the server or virtualize the server, please contact the technical support team.
Large coordinates
Question:
- Why can't I create elements?
- Why can't I move a drawing?
- Why are elements not created correctly?
- Why does the program crash when I import a DXF file from the land registry office?
- Why is the outline of a circumscribed area not detected correctly?
- Why can't I calculate shadows?
- Why are elements not displayed correctly in animation?
- Why are parts of dimension text missing?
- Why do the contents of the screen suddenly rotate?
- Why can't I get a preview when I move or copy elements?
- Why are areas not calculated correctly?
Finding the reason for these problems:
Check whether an offset is set in the project settings (File -> New Project, Open Project-> select the project and open the shortcut menu -> Properties; Allplan 2009 and earlier: Tools -> Options ->Advanced Draft -> Settings). If there are offset coordinates, clear the check box.
Select Tools -> Measure(->)Coordinates.
Click in the middle of the drawing in plan view.
If there are very large values (for example, x/y/z greater than 5000 m), you have found the reason for these problems.
The system has problems calculating and displaying data with very large coordinates. The more data you have with very large coordinates, the greater this effect.
Solution:
- Click Tools -> Options... -> Desktop environment -> Generaland select Optimize working with large coordinates(Allplan 2009 and earlier: Tools -> Options -> Global Options -> Miscellaneous tab -> Optimize working with large coordinates). After this you must restart Allplan. Otherwise, this setting has no effect.
This is a user setting you must define separately for each user.
- Usually, the best solution is to move the data towards the Allplan origin. Use the "Move" tool. When Allplan prompts you to specify the target point ("To point"), select Global point in the dialog line. You can find detailed information in the help for Allplan. Look for the Global pointtopic.
Note:
If the data are still not displayed correctly, do the following:
Exit Allplan -> Services application-> Service -> Hotline Tools-> cleanup -> start Allplan.
How to handle licenses when upgrading to Allplan 2022
Question:
What license issues do I need to consider when upgrading from Allplan 2019/2020/2021 to Allplan 2022?
Answer:
Installation options during Setups
Upgrade - program update with transfer of all project data, office and user settings.
The existing Allplan installation is upgraded to version 2022. If several Allplan versions are installed, only the latest version will be suggested for upgrade. Projects, office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2019/2020/2021 to Allplan 2022. Allplan 2019/2020/2021 is then no longer available.
New installation without transfer of project data, office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are not transferred to version 2022. You can import projects after installation using the following Allplan function:
New project, open-> Import projects.
New installation with transfer of office and user settings:
Existing Allplan installations remain unchanged. Office and user settings are automatically transferred from 2019/2020/2021 to version 2022. In the case of multiple installed Allplan versions, only the most current version is suggested for transfer. If you have installed with a central file store, make sure that you create a folder with a suitable share on your central file store (server) beforehand. This folder can then be selected as the "central file storage folder" during setup. You can import projects after installation with the following Allplan function:
Project new, open-> Import projects.
Depending on the licensing system you use, you need to consider different points.
There is no license request when installing Allplan 2022. Therefore, make sure in advance that your licenses are also suitable for this version, e.g. by purchase or a valid service contract.
1. Upgrade Allplan 2022 – stand-alone workstation
Your license for Allplan 2022 will be updated after installation, when you start Allplan 2022 for the first time. Start Allplan 2022 and you will be prompted to update the license. Select "Update now" here. The license is updated online. You can then start Allplan 2022 directly or close the license window.
Note: To install Allplan 2022 on a new computer, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Transferring license to a new computer.
You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license
2. Upgrading Allplan 2022 with a license server
Start by updating your license(s) at the license server. After this, upgrade the clients. To do this, start the License Settings program on the server. Click License Activation on the left, and then click the license you want to update. Click Update License.
After the license(s) update, you can perform the Allplan upgrade installation on the client computers.
NOTE: Check the version of your installed license server on the server. Starting with the license server version 2016-1-4, the detailed version status (Build-ID) is displayed directly in the lower left corner of the License Settings program.
At least version 1.1196.xxx.xxx should be displayed here. If an older Build ID is displayed, then you still have an older license server in use. In any case, please update your license server. Download the software for the license server from the Allplan Connect service portal. Detailed instructions can be found at connect.allplan.com/license under the menu item Information on installation and Licensing' and the instructions 'Updating license server and licenses'.
Note: You can update the licenses only at a license server you have already installed. If you want to switch to Allplan 2022 and move the license server to a new server, please read on connect.allplan.com/license within the menu item Information on Installation and Licensing the instructions Moving license server to a new server.
You can find your Product Key in Allplan Connect as usual. Go to: connect.allplan.com/license
Downloading licenses from Allplan Connect
You can also obtain your activation codes for Allplan 2022 IBD in the Allplan Connect service portal.
To do this, click Profile > License Management.
You can only use this function as an administrator.
Finding license server automatically or entering additional server name not possible
Question:
Why is it not possible to clear the check box for 'Find license server automatically' and why can't I enter an additional server name? These functions are grayed out.
Answer:
This problem is caused by Windows access rights. Only administrators can change these options.
Installing Allplan:
If this problem occurs during Setup and you cannot select a license, start by installing Allplan as a viewer.
Granting permissions later:
Assign full control to the users.
Local permissions prevent them from accessing the following file: Lic3LM.ini
Check whether the users have full control of the following folder:
Click folder with the right mouse button -> Properties -> Security -> Edit -> select the user - > grant full control
C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek(hidden file)
Open the 'License settings' dialog box: Services application -> Utilities -> License settingsYou should now be able to clear the check box and enter additional server names.
Adjusting the local file storage folder for Allplan Share
Question:
How can I change the cache path for Allplan Share?
Note:
You do this at your own risk.
We strongly recommend that you clarify all issues in advance.
Always copy a file before you change it.
Before you change registry entries, back up the registry key that you want to modify. To do this, export the key by selecting File - Export in the Registry Editor.
Answer:
Allplan Share temporarily saves the project data in the path of the local file storage, which you defined when you installed Allplan.
You can see the path of the local file storage folder in the Services application.
If this folder is centrally on a server for all Allplan workstations:
To avoid replication conflicts that might occur when several users work on the same project data, you must change the path settings for each user so that this folder is locally on the user’s computer running Allplan.
Before you start, close Allplan, making sure that you do not lose any data.
- Go to a local drive (C or D) of the computer running Allplan and create the new "Local data” folder with the "Allplan” subfolder (for example, C:\Local data\Allplan).
- Start the Windows Registry Editor as the administrator (start - run - regedit).
- Go to the left column of Registry Editor and open the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\Allplan\2018.0\InstallRoot. If Allplan 2019 or a newer Allplan version is installed, “2019.0“ or the newer version replaces “2018.0” in the path.
- Go to the right column of Registry Editor and double-click theLocalDataDrivekey. Specify the drive that you selected for local file storage (for example, C:). Then click OK to confirm the change. This applies the change.
- Then, go to the right column of Registry Editor again and double-click theLocalDataPathkey. Specify the path that you defined for local file storage (for example,\Local Data\Allplan). Then click OK to confirm the change. This applies the change. The result should look like this:
- Close the Registry Editor. Allplan now uses the new path for the cache of Allplan Share.
- Start Allplan and select the Allplan Share project to load the necessary project data into the new cache.
Real time scanner blocks Allplan data
Question:
Allplan does not react promptly or seems to hang after I have selected the "Open on a Project-Specific Basis" or "New Project, Open Project" tool.
One of the following virus scanners is running: Trendmicro, McAfee, Kaspersky, Avira, F-Prot and others.
What can I do to solve this problem?
Answer:
Check whether updating the software of the virus scanner solves the problem.
If it doesn't, configure the real time scanner of the virus scanner so that it no longer scans the program folder and data folder of Allplan.
Start the Services application. Make a note of the following paths displayed in the Services application window:
Program folder
General program data
Central file storage folder
Define these folders as exemptions in your virus scanner.
In addition, add the paths listed below to the list of exceptions:
C:\Program Files\Allplan\AllplanUpdateLauncher 20XX\*.
C:\Users\Windows Username\AppData\Local\Nemetschek\Allplan\20XX\Tmp\*.
C:\Users\Windows Username\AppData\Local\ALLPLAN_GmbH\*.
Please note that the subfolders of the paths given in the list must also be included in the configuration.
Bear in mind that virus scanners may be installed on the server and the clients (provided you work with a server).
For more information on the virus scanner, contact the manufacturer.
Addition:
In addition, also configure the setting for licensing.
Define the exception in your virus scanner for the "Codemeter" folder. You will find this under:
C:\Program files (X86)\Codemeter.
C:\Program files\Codemeter
C:\ProgramData\CodeMeter
Moving license server to a new server
Question:
How can I move the license server to a new server?
Answer:
If you activated the license(s) online by entering a Product Key, you can return the license(s) and then use them on a different server. You can return licenses only if the server has Internet access.
Returning a license
To return a license in online mode
- Start the license server by opening the License Settings.
- Click License activationon the left. Then click the license you want to return.
- Click Return license.
- Do this for each license until you have returned all licenses.
You can now activate the license(s) on a different server.
To install the license server on the new server, download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect.
You can activate a license in online mode only if you have ...
- Internet access
- a Product Key
Installing the license server on the new server
- Start License Server Setupon the new server.
- Click Install.
- Start the license server by starting the License Settingsprogram. Go to the License activationarea, enter your Product Key and click Activate license.
- If you have more licenses for the license server, enter the respective Product Keys and activate the licenses.
- Afterwards, start CodeMeter Control Center.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen, enter Codemeter and press ENTER. A dialog box opens. Click WebAdmin at bottom right.
Or Enter Localhost:22350in the address bar of your browser.
- Select Settings -> Server -> Access serverin the Network serverarea and click Activate.
- Click Apply.
Configuring the clients
The license server license will be detected automatically on the network; the clients display the license(s) provided by the new server.
Check the license selection in the license settings of the client:
Services application -> Utilities -> License settings -> License selection
Priority:
Select the check box in front of a license to select this license as a favorite. You can mark as many licenses as you want. Allplan will then prefer these licenses. Click to select one ore more licenses Allplan is not to use. If you do not select any license or if you have selected several favorites, Allplan will automatically use the first free license it finds.
Find license server automatically:
When you select this option, Allplan automatically detects a license server on the LAN. In some cases, such as VPN connections, Allplan may not be able to detect a server automatically. In this case, you can enter the server manually (see additional server name).
Note:Only the Windows administrator can change this option.
Additional server name:
If 'Find license server automatically' is not active or Allplan has not automatically found a license server, you can manually enter the name or the IP address of the server. If 'Find license server automatically' is active, you can enter an additional server. After having entered the server name, click Updateto see the licenses of the license server. Use semicolons to separate several server names.
Notes:
You can find detailed information on the license server in the License Settings help (F1 key).
Allplan communicates with the license server via TCP/IP. By default, communication is via Port 22350unless you change the port in CodeMeter WebAdmin.
If a firewall is active on your computer, you must enable port 22350 for TCP and UDP. If the firewall filters in an application-specific manner, you have to enable the CodeMeter.exe license server service. You can find this service in the %Program Files (x86)%\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin Windows folder. Define the CodeMeter.exe service as an exception in the firewall. Some anti-virus programs also include firewall functions. If you are not sure, contact the manufacturer of the anti-virus program.
Avoiding an interruption of the network connection
Question:
Allplan is installed so that the projects (central file storage folder) are on the server. Consequently, Allplan requires a stable and permanent connection to the server. How can I prevent the network interface card from interrupting this connection?
Answer:
There is usually a setting in the power management of the network interface card that allows the operating system to temporarily turn off the network interface card if the user has not done anything for a certain time. If this happens while Allplan is running, there is the danger that current drawing files will not be saved correctly on the server. This may lead to damaged drawing files you cannot open any more.
To prevent this, you can turn off this setting. Please do the following:
Windows 8.1:
Right- click the Start button -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.
Windows 7:
Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.
Windows XP:
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> double-click the current network interface card -> Power Management tab -> clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box.
License server - assigning access rights for seats to individual users
Question:
How can I give individual users the right to see and select specific seats on the license server? And how can I deny users this right?
Sometimes, it may be necessary that a specific user does not see the seat with, for example, the terrain option so that this user cannot use this seat inadvertently.
Answer:
Using WebAdmin, you can give users rights for specific seats on the license server.
Please note the following points:
1. Before you start, check that at least CodeMeter Version 6.50 is installed on the license server.
Start CodeMeter Control Centeron the server.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen. Enter Codemeter and press ENTER. Select Help -> About to see which version of CodeMeter is installed. If the version displayed is older than version 6.50, you must install the latest version of CodeMeter Control Center. Go to the following website
and download the CodeMeter User Runtime for Windowsprogram.
https://www.wibu.com/de/anwendersoftware.html
2. Open WebAdmin. Start CodeMeter Control Centeron the server again.
To do this, use the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen, enter Codemeter and press ENTER. A dialog box opens. Click WebAdminat bottom right.
Or
Enter Localhost:22350in the address bar of your browser.
3. Go to "Configuration -> Server -> License Access Permissions".
Select Mode: Advanced.
4. Go to "Advanced Mode Configuration -> Specific access rules -> Add Firm Code"and select "6000100 - Allplan GmbH". Click Add. "Specific access rules"now inlcude "6000100 - Allplan GmbH".
5. Click "Add Product Code"to select the seat for which you want to define access rights. However, this is only possible if the "Distinction based on Product Item Text" check box is selected.
The "Note" section below in this FAQ lists the abbreviations given at the end of each seat. These abbreviations represent the license contents.
Select the required seat and click "Add" again. Repeat these steps to assign more seats.
6. After having defined the product code, you can now assign an access rule.
By default, all users are allowedto access this seat.
Select the product code you just defined and click "Add new access rule".
Click "User" and enter the required user.
When you click in the field next to "User", you can see all available users with their domain names.
Select the user or enter the user manually. For example, enter DOMAINNAME\SSample and select the right you want to assign to this user by clicking "Allow" or "Deny".
If the default setting is "Allow", you can thus deny users access to the license. If the default setting is "Deny", you can thus allow users to access the license again.
You can add more rules. When you have configured all rules, click "Apply" to apply the changes.
7. You need to restart CodeMeter Service so that the changes take effect.
To do this, select CodeMeter Control Center -> Process -> Stop CodeMeterServiceand then click Restart CodeMeter Service. Before you restart the service, make sure all users have closed Allplan.
Information:
Client access can be defined by one of the following parameters: computer name, IPv4 subnet, user name or group name.
Enter the required parameter in the corresponding field. If you use an active directory, the program auto-completes entries in the "User" and "Group" fields.
Here comes a practical example:
Think about which setting is most useful to you. For example, you have two seats: seat 01 with 7 architecture licenses and seat 02 with 1 architecture license and 1 terrain license. Only two specific users should be able to use seat 02. If you want to deny all other users access to seat 02, you need to add seat 02 to specific access rules and define a rule for this seat 02. First, set the default setting to "Deny". Then, add these two users and select or "Allow" for these users. As a result, all other users can only see seat 01 and these two users can see seats 01 and 02.
However, if you want that these two users can only see seat 02, you need to add both seats to specific access rules and define a second rule for seat 01. Add these two users to this second role and select Deny for these two users. The default setting, which applies to all the other users, is still Allow. As a result, all other users can see seat 01 and these two users can only see seat 02.

License server settings used by several computers
Question:
How can I make several computers use the same license server settings?
Answer:
The settings are saved in two files:
- Lic3LM.ini in C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek
- Lic3.ini in C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek. To access this user-specific file, use %appdata%/Nemetschek, for example.
Lic3LM.ini in C:\ProgramData\Nemetschek:
This file includes information on server selection, that is to say, the server name and information on whether the ‘Find license server automatically’ option is selected.
What do the values mean?
- UseWibuList=yes: find license server automatically
- UseWibuList=no: do not find license server automatically
- Server=[server_name]: name of license server
For example:
[Environment-1]
UseWibuList=yes
Server=Server01
In this example, the computer is connected with the ‘Server01’ server and the ‘Find license server automatically’ option is selected.
Lic3.ini in C:\Users\[Benutzername]\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek:
This file includes information on which license is preferred or blocked.
What do the values mean?
- 0: license is not selected
- 100: license is preferred
- -100: license is blocked
For example:
[Viewer-1]
view=no
[ConfUi-1]
Page=Select
[Favourite-1]
128-7822048:23:5000505=0
128-7823287:24:5000505=100
In this example, seat 24 is selected (preferred) and seat 23 is not selected.
Note:
Use the Services application -> Utilities -> License settings to create these two files with the required settings on one computer.
You can then transfer these two files to the other computers, thus avoiding incorrect entries.
Options window / IFC window closed immediately when opened
Question:
The windows for options and the window for IFC import and export are closed immediately when opened. How can this issue be solved?
Answer:
1. HP computer
If you are using an HP (Hewlett-Packard) computer, please take these steps. Otherwise proceed to number 2.
Check whether the security software "HP ProtectTools" is installed on this computer. If yes, then uninstall "HP ProtectTools". This software suite consists of several progams. In most cases, these programs are:
- HP ProtectTools Device Access Manager
- Embedded Security for HP
- Face Recognition for HP ProtectTools
- File Sanitizer For HP ProtectTools
- Privacy Manager for HP ProtectTools
- Theft Recovery
- Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools
- HP ProtectTools Security Manager
It is possible that more or less HP software than the listed is installed. When you uninstall the "HP ProtectTools Security Manager", no other dependent software should be listed during uninstallation.
If there is dependent software listed during uninstallation, please uninstall these programs first. As the last step, "HP ProtectTools Security Manager" should be uninstalled.
An example message, listing dependent software which is still installed:
Important notice: Please restart the computer to complete uninstalling the software.
2. Dell computer
If you are using a Dell computer, please take these steps. Otherwise contact the Allplan support.
Check whether the security software "Dell Data Protection" is installed on this computer. If yes, then uninstall "Dell Data Protection". This software suite consists of several progams. In most cases, these programs are:
- Dell Data Protection | Security Tools Authentication
- Dell Data Protection | Security Tools
It is possible that more or less Dell software than the listed is installed. When you uninstall the "Dell Data Protection", no other dependent software should be listed during uninstallation.
If there is dependent software listed during uninstallation, please uninstall these programs first. As the last step, "Dell Data Protection" should be uninstalled.
An example message, listing dependent software which is still installed:
Important notice: Please restart the computer to complete uninstalling the software.
Notes:
HP ProtectTools Security Suite was developed by McAfee in cooperation with HP. It is pre-installed on most HP business notebooks and on some HP desktop computers.
HP ProtectTools are using Full Volume Encryption (FVE) by McAfee Safeboot, which changes the Win32 API behaviour. This causes problems in Allplan.
Also Dell is using similar mechanisms for the Dell Data Protection Suite. They have the same influence on Allplan.
Please note that these programs in either case have negative effects on stability and functionality of Allplan, even if you might not notice it (example: working options and IFC windows in different Allplan version).

Workgroup Manager: checking out computer and working with user privileges
Question:
How can I check out a computer and continue to work as a normal CAD user with my usual settings and permissions?
Answer:
Install the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" driver.
This driver is necessary so that network services are running on the computer all the time.
Go to Allplan Connect for a detailed description: https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/000162ae.html
Sign in as the Allplan administrator to the computer.
Step 1: add the computer to workgroup manager
You must add the computer to the workgroup so that you can store data (data server) on this computer. Do the following:
Create data folders:
Create a folder - for example, “Nemdata” - on the computer and share it (full control).
Create the “Allplan” subfolder in this folder. Create two subfolders - “usr” and “prj” - in the Allplan folder.
In this example: “...\Nemdata\Allplan\prj” and “...\Nemdata\Allplan\usr”
To share a folder for the Allplan file storage
- Start File Explorer on the computer that you want to use for file storage and switch to the folder that you want to share (in this example, the “Nemdata” folder).
- Right-click the folder that you want to share and select Give access to -> Specific peopleon the shortcut menu.
- Select Everyoneand click Share.
Add computer:
- Start the Services application as the workgroup administrator.
- Click and select Manage computers and projects.
- Click the Add any computer to Allplan workgroupicon and select the computer that you want to add.
- Select the “Allplan” subfolder under the share and click “OK” to confirm. This computer is now listed under workgroup server.
Note:If you have problems adding the computer to workgroup manager, read the following instructions:
https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20200317162849.html
Step 2: define project owner
A user can only move a project if the user is the owner of this project.
The ownership of a project can only be changed by an Allplan administrator (or the owner of the project).
Allplan -> File -> ProjectPilot ->
Go to the “Projects” node, right-click the required project and click Propertieson the shortcut menu.
Define the owner.
Step 3: move projects
Sign in as the user who wants to check out the computer.
Select the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Manage computers and projects.
Click the main server and select the project that you want to move.
Drag the projects one after the other to the computer to be checked out.
Important note: You can take projects with you in several ways.
1. You move the project to the computer.
Move project: Drag the project to the destination computer, or open the shortcut menu of the project and click “Cut”. After this, open the shortcut menu of the destination computer and click “Paste”.
After you have checked in the computer, move the project back to the server so that it is available to all and included in backups again.
2. You copy projects. Click a project, select and hold the Ctrl key and drag the project to the destination computer. Or: Open the shortcut menu of the project and click “Copy”. After this, open the shortcut menu of the destination computer and click “Paste”.
You can continue in two ways: Lock the original project on the server to protect it from changes. Consequently, nobody in the office can work on this project, but it is still on the server. When you check in the computer again, you unlock the project on the server, delete the project and copy your copy back to the server if you have changed the project.
Alternatively, both projects remain active. Consequently, both the project copied and the original on the server can be worked on. In this case, however, you must adjust the data manually when you are back in the office by copying the changed drawing files of the projects by using ProjectPilot.
Step 4: check out the computer
Select the Services application -> Workgroup Manager -> Manage computers and projects.
Click your computer and then click Check outin the lower-right area.
Confirm the message that tells you that there are still user folders on the computer to be checked out.
Enter a comment and click OK. Users in the office see this comment when they try to access a project that is on the computer that is checked out.
Specify the parts of the office standard you want to copy to the computer and click OK to confirm.
The first time you check out the computer, you must copy the office standard once so that the entire STD folder is on this computer. This is no longer necessary when you check out the computer afterward because the contents of the STD folder do not change very often.
Conclusion:
You can now remove the computer from the network and work on your projects when you are out of the office. To make sure that the projects are not changed in the office in the meantime, the projects that are on the computer checked out are locked for the CAD users on the network. These users see the comment you entered when you checked out the computer.
Notes:
- You can only check out a computer to which you are signed in. You cannot check out another computer over the network.
- Projects on this computer must be neither locked nor in use.
- For installations with license server: You must also borrow a license from the license server for the computer you want to check out.

Notebooks and screens with QHD / UHD / 4K resolution from Allplan 2018
Question:
How can Allplan be operated under a QHD / UHD / 4K resolution?
Answer:
Starting with Allplan 2018, a query will appear in the Allplan Start under a QHD / UHD / 4K resolution (from 2560 x 1600), in which you can decide whether the operating system scaling should also be used in Allplan. This choice can be changed at any time in the Allplan Options-> Desktop Enviroment- > Display-> Scaling of the user interface.
Note:
If this option is switched on, Allplan uses the scaling level, which is set globally in the display settings of the operating system. Side effects of this scaling can be slight blurring in the symbols, drawing elements, and dropped graphics in Allplan.
Please note that this functionality is only available from Windows 8.1 and higher.
Exporting complex data with external references from Allplan's layout editor
Question:
How can I export data from the layout editor so that Allplan creates a layout DWG and an additional reference DWG for each drawing file?
Answer:
As opposed to Allplan, AutoCAD only provides one model space. You cannot work with various drawing files as usual in Allplan. Using external references, however, you can load parts of different DWG files into one DWG file.
The "exporting complex data with external references" method is particularly useful for exporting data from Allplan's layout editor.
With this method, a master drawing (layout DWG) is created from the layout and additional reference drawings (reference DWGs) are created from all the drawing files placed in the layout. All these reference drawings are associated with the layout DWG and thus also visible there. These files only contain the AutoCAD model space.
Export:
Select the layout you want to export in Allplan's layout editor:
- Select File -> Export-> Export AutoCAD Data.... Select the relevant layout and click OK to confirm.
- A dialog box opens. In the Save inarea at the top, select the folder where you want to save the exported file and select the required file type.
- Click Options... and set the required options on the 'General Settings'tab. In Allplan 2009 and later, for example, you can select the exchange favorite 3 as the basis for the export and set the other options manually.
Open the 'AutoCAD specific'tab. In the 'Part of file to be transferred'area, select the Design (model space)check box.
If necessary, define additional settings in the options and confirm them by clicking OK. - Then start the export by clicking Save.
- The "Export:..." dialog box opens for the layout. Click the Modifybutton if you want to change the configuration. While exporting the data, Allplan displays the "Export:..." dialog box for each drawing file used.
- Allplan creates one layout DWG and an additional reference DWG for each drawing file.
Result:
1. Files created:
Allplan creates a file for the layout (e.g., "plan_1.dwg") and an additional file as an XRef for each drawing file placed in the layout (e.g., "tb_1.dwg", "tb_2.dwg" and so on).
When you open the layout DWG (e.g., "plan_1.dwg") in AutoCAD, the reference DWGs (e.g., "tb_1.dwg", "tb_2.dwg" and so on) are displayed as external references.
2. Resolving elements:
Elements in drawing files are transferred as complex elements (e.g., hatching, patterns and dimension lines are retained).
Elements that are directly in the layout are transferred as complex elements or they are resolved, depending on the settings in the 'Explode elements'area.
3. Filtering elements:
The filters in the 'Transfer elements'area apply not only to the data that is directly in the layout but also to the data of the drawing files.
4. Construction lines:
Using the filter for construction lines in the 'Transfer elements'area, you can filter construction lines both in the layout and in the drawing file. In the 'Transfer elements'area, switch off the Construction linesor Not plottable elementoption (same effect).
5. Clipping boundaries:
A clipping boundary is an area that is cut, for example, by a layout window. Clipping boundaries are taken into account.
6. Allplan structure:
Allplan creates a separate DWG for the layout and for each drawing file and transfers the drawing file structure in this way. The layers of the drawing files become the layers of the DWG.
7. Paper space – model space:
With this method, the model space is transferred in each DWG.
Note:
If your planning partners do not want to work with several DWG files in AutoCAD, they can integrate the reference DWGs into the layout DWG and thus work with a single DWG file.
To make sure that the data is referenced correctly when the DWG file is opened, you need to save all the files in a common folder and transfer this folder.
If you have any further questions regarding data exchange, this topic is described in detail in the online Help. All you need to do is press the F1 key. Open the Index tab and selectInterfaces.
License activation - "no Internet connection" when entering the Product Key
Question:
I cannot activate Allplan. When I enter the Product Key, the "no Internet connection" message appears even though the computer is connected to the Internet. Which ports are required? Are there any settings for the proxy server?
Answer:
License activation accesses the internally used URLs
https://lc.codemeter.com/59885/gateways/getLicenses.php and
https://lc.codemeter.com/59885/gateways/getTicketInformation.php.
Make sure the proxy server does not block these URLs.
Try to activate the license again.

Note on downloading the full set-up from version 2023:
From version 2023, Allplan is installed using the minimal installer, which only downloads those components that are actually required for the installation.
If, for example, the complete installation package with all optional components is required for rolling out the setup, it can be downloaded via the layout mode described below. Of course, the name of the "Installer.exe" must be changed to the actual name (e.g.:Allplan_2023_0_0_Installer.exe) in Silent Setup:

Note Licensing:
As there will no longer be a licence query in Allplan Setup from 2022, this information cannot be provided.
If a licence server is in use, it can be set up on a computer and then distributed using the following procedure.
