Question:

How to update the license server and the licenses?



Answer:

Allplan 2016: Before you do anything, make sure Allplan 2016-1-4 or later is running on all clients.
Allplan 2017 and higher: Check the version of the license server as described below and update the licenses.

1. Updating the license server
Check the version of your installed license server on the server. Starting with the license server version 2016-1-4, the detailed version status (Build-ID) is displayed directly in the lower left corner of the License Settings program.
The latest version 1.1196.xxx.xxx should be displayed here. If an older Build ID is displayed, then you still have an older license server in use. In any case, please update your license server. Download the software for the license server from Allplan Connect - license server version 2021 or from the following link.

The package is in the folder

/Allplan/Lizenzserver/2021/

Start the new License Server Setup on the server or computer you use as the license server. Right-click the *.exe file and select 'Run as administrator' on the shortcut menu.

  • Click Install.
  • Click Exit.

2. Updating the licenses
Update the licenses at the license server as follows:

  • Start the License Settingsprogram on the server.
  • Click License activationon the left. Then click the license you want to update so that this license is highlighted in blue.
  • As you can see, the 'Update license' function is now available.
  • Click Update license.
  • If your license includes configurations for several seats, you must update each license separately.

Note: When updating the license it can be that you will receive a higher version of the license as the version of Allplan you are using. The license is downward comatible and can be used until Allplan 2016.

How can I import data from an earlier version?



Answer:

You can import data from the last three Allplan versions.
Consequently, the following import operations are possible:

We cannot guarantee that data created in older versions can be imported and edited. The conversion of older data may be incomplete, which may affect intelligent components in particular.


1. Archived data from an earlier version (not older than three previous versions):

There are two ways to convert the data to the current version:

  • Import the project backups created and archived using the
    Services application -> Data Backup -> Import -> Projects.
    After importing the projects, convert them by opening each project once.
  • Import the backups archived using the
    Services application -> File -> Restore documents of any version to &apos;...\Extern&apos;.
    The data are written to the external path.
    You can now process the converted data in ProjectPilot.



2. Archived data from an older Allplan version (older than three previous versions):

  • See whether you can use the approach described in step 1 to import the old projects.
  • If available, it is a good idea to install an old Allplan version. Import the backups created and archived into this old version and convert the projects using the Services application. If you have imported a complete project backup, convert the data by opening each project once. When finished, repeat this process with a newer version (up to three versions later) until the data are up-to-date.
  • If an old Allplan version is not available, you can also have the data converted by Allplan. Please note that this service is not free of charge. Please contact Technical Support -> support.de@allplan.com.




Notes:

  • You can convert the data of all projects at once. Read the following FAQ in Allplan Connect: https://connect.allplan.com/en/faqid/20090408124904.html
  • If enough hard disk space is available, you are advised to keep and maintain the projects so that Allplan automatically converts them to the current version whenever you upgrade.
  • If there are project-specific smart symbol catalogs, you should open the smart symbol catalog once to convert the data.

Note:

You can help the technical support team to process your request by generating a support request with the Hotinfo program and sending it to us.

Procedure:

The Hotinfo program is installed along with Allplan; you can start it over the following ways:
1. Start -> All Programs -> Nemetschek -> Allplan [version number] -> Hotinfo [version number].
2. Allplan -> ? -> Generate support request (Hotinfo)
3. Allmenu/Services -> Service -> Create Support request (Hotinfo)


Select the team with whom you wish to communicate:
Choose the relevant entry, for example, Technical Support Allplan. The email address of the selected team is entered automatically.

Select the areas on which you have questions:
Please select the question that is pertinent to your support request.
You only need to select question 2 when Allplan support is requesting it from you.

Note on question 02:
If you have selected question "02. Inquiry with Allplan logging", you can start Allplan straight form the Hotinfo after the questions.
This will generate and attach a log (trace).
Start Allplan by clicking on the button “Start Allplan”
Carefully reproduce the problem – for example, perform the steps that lead to the failure.
Then click "Next" to generate the support request with the trace.
You can click the "Take screenshot" button at any time while Allplan is running in logging mode. This way, you can quickly and easily save any error messages that may be displayed.

Please describe the problem:
Describe the problem in detail (for example, include the exact wording of error messages).

Select the files you want to attach to the email:

You can use the "New screenshot" button to take screenshots of the entire screen and send them as a file attachment to the Hotinfo.

These files are only attached to the email when you send the Hotinfo by clicking “Finish” -> Option “Start email program…" or send it to us over File -> Send Message...".

Here you have the possibility over the pre-selected option "Start Email program..." to start your email program with the created Hotinfo, the generated files as a file attachment and the correct destination address. You only need to press &apos;Send&apos;.

Over option "Open Hotinfo file to save it..."you can open the support request, save, and send as an email attachment to support.de (please no spam) @ (please no spam) allplan.com, if no e-mail program is installed locally.
In this case, make sure to attach in addition to the support request all additional files also. Attach the "attached files" and "generated screenshots" independently as attachment to your email.

Question:

How can I fix bugs in Microsoft .NET Framework components?


Note:

This is a Windows problem. The procedure described is not supported by Allplan. You do this at your own risk.
If you are not sure, give these instructions to your system administrator.


Answer:

Online repairing of .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8

Open the support site of Microsoft:

Microsoft provides a repair tool for fixing .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8.

Download the “NetFxRepairTool.exe” file and save it to any folder on the hard drive of your computer; for example, C:\Repair_NetFramework.
Run the repair tool by right-clicking the “NetFxRepairTool.exe” file and selecting “Run as administrator” on the shortcut menu. By doing this, you can bypass Windows User Account Control.
Click “Yes” at the following prompts.
Follow the instructions of the repair tool.

After the repair routine is complete, a log shows you whether fixing .NET Framework has been successful.


Offline repairing of .NET Framework up to and including version 4.8

Download the “NetFxRepairTool.exe” file from

In addition, download the necessary resources for fixing .NET Framework.
You can download these files from the support site of Microsoft; go to "Offline support".

Download the two files and save them to any new folder on the hard drive of your computer; for example, C:\Repair_NetFramework.




Open the Command Prompt window as an administrator.

Enter the following commands one after another. Confirm each command by selecting Enter.

The tool repairs .NET Framework.

After the repair routine is complete, a log shows you whether fixing .NET Framework has been successful.

Allplan crashes when you open the Wall dialog - what can you do?



Answer:

Since Allplan version 2020, you can also use OpenGL in Allplan if you use an onboard graphics card. Provided this card supports the OpenGL version listed in the system requirements:

In connection with outdated grafic card drivers and current Windows updates, the described crashes may occur in individual cases.

In this case, please update the drivers of your graphics card(s) first by downloading the appropriate driver from the manufacturer's homepage and then installing it:

AMD grafics driver
Intel grafics driver
NVIDIA grafics driver

Important: please do not use the Update Driver button in the Device Manager.

If the problem is not solved after the driver update, please contact your Allplan support.

Answer:

Exit Allplan on all workstations and do the following:
Open the Services application and make a note of the path to the &apos;central file storage folder&apos;, which is displayed in the Services application window.
In addition, check whether the workgroup manager line is followed by &apos;Yes&apos; or &apos;No&apos;.

Open the central file storage folder in Windows Explorer.

If the workgroup manager line is followed by
&apos;Yes&apos;, open the NET subfolder.
&apos;No&apos;, open the PRJ subfolder.

Find the &apos;project.dat&apos; or &apos;project.Dat.xm&apos; file in the NET or PRJ folder and rename it &apos;project-old.dat&apos;.

After this, do the following:
Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> reorg -> OK -> Restore project management file -> OK
The program creates a new, correct project management file and you can start Allplan again.

Question:

How can I restore a lost building structure or layout structure?



Answer:

To restore a lost or corrupt building structure or layout structure, you can do the following:

  • Close Allplan.
  • Open Windows Explorer, go to the central file storage folder of Allplan and open the "Prj"folder. Open the corresponding project folder and the "BIM" subfolder.

    Note:
    If the "Same folder name as project name" option is not selected for the project, a number is used for the folder name in the "Prj"folder. In this case, open the Services applicationand select the woprohotline tool (Services application -> Service -> Hotline Tools -> wopro). Select the corresponding project by double-clicking its name. An information dialog box shows the folder and file name of the project.
  • You can find an XML file for each structure in the BIM subfolder.


Building structure:
Allplan_BIM_BuildingStructure.xml

Objects derived from building structure:
Allplan_BIM_Views.xml

Plane model:
Allplan_BIM_LevMo_"name of model".xml

Layout structure:
Allplan_BIM_LayoutStructure.xml

  • To restore the building structure from a backup, rename the existing file "Allplan_BIM_BuildingStructure.xml" "Allplan_BIM_BuildingStructure.xml.old", for example.
  • Switch to the "Backup"folder, which you can also find in the"BIM"folder.
  • Select the most recent file that had been created beforethe building structure was deleted, for example, "Allplan_BIM_BuildingStructure.xml.27.5.2008--10-32-21.bak". The characters in bold indicate the date and time of the backup. Copy this file to the "BIM"folder.
  • Rename this file by deleting the characters after ".xml". Now the file name is "Allplan_BIM_BuildingStructure.xml".
  • Restart Allplan. The last version of the building structure is displayed in the "Open on a project-specific basis"dialog box again.




Note:

Using Allplan 2009-2 and later, you can restore the layout structure from a *.bak file straight from the "Open on a project-specific basis: layouts"dialog box.

  • Right-click the topmost structural level in the layout structure (project name) and select Load layout structure favoriteon the shortcut menu.
  • Open the last version of the Allplan_BIM_LayoutStructure.xml file in the backup folder mentioned above.


If the *.bak files are not displayed, please follow the steps described above.

How can I set up Allplan Share? What are the requirements?


Answer:

1)System requirementsfor Allplan Share

Software required

Allplan Version 2018 or higher

Network infrastructure required

Minimum requirements:

A 20-Mbit/s Internet connection for downloading and uploading data

Recommended setup:

At least a 50-Mbit/s Internet connection for downloading and uploading data

2) Licensing

You have two options to buy the Allplan Share option.

1. You can visit the Allplan Shop at ‘shop.allplan.com’.

Allplan Options -> Allplan Share

a. Specify how many licenses you want to buy and add the Allplan Share option to the cart.

b. Follow the instructions displayed and buy the Allplan Share option.

After you have bought the Allplan Share option, the licenses will be assigned to your Bimplus team. You can manage these licenses using ‘My Account’ - ‘Subscriptions and Users’.

2. You can contact the Allplan sales partner in your area.

3) Assigning licenses

Regardless of how you buy the Allplan Share option, you can manage the Allplan Share licenses in the Allplan Shop. Go to the ‘Subscriptions and Users’ area. As an alternative, you can also manage the licenses on the Bimplus portal. Here, go to the ‘Team members’ area.

Allplan Shop - ‘Subscriptions and Users’

1. Log in to the Allplan Shop and open ‘My Account’.

2. Click ‘Subscriptions and Users’ to see your licenses.

3. Select the Allplan Share option on the tab.

4. You can assign one or more Allplan Share licenses to team members. To do this, select the user in the list and assign the license by selecting the check box. You can remove the license at any time by clearing the check box.

If the list does not include the user to whom you want to assign a license, click ‘Invite new Bimplus team member’, enter the email address of the new team member and select a role.

As soon as the new team member has accepted the invitation, you can find this person in the list.

4) Using Allplan Share

To use the Allplan Share option, you require Allplan 2018. The Workgroup Manager option is not necessary.

Starting a project

You have three options to start an Allplan Share project:

1. You can create a new project and save it on Bimplus by setting the location to BIMPLUS. To create a Bimplus project with Allplan Share content, you require ‘Bimplus team owner’ or ‘Bimplus team admin’ privileges.

2. You can copy an existing Allplan project to Bimplus by selecting ‘Copy to’. You can then share this project with other project partners. This does not affect the source project.

3. You can move an existing Allplan project to Bimplus by selecting ‘Move to’. This moves the source project to Bimplus. As a result, this project is no longer available on the local computer or local network.

5) Managing users and assigning users to the project

Allplan Share is a cloud-based solution. Therefore, Allplan Share uses the Bimplus user management for project collaboration. As a result, Allplan Share is independent of local user management systems like Workgroup Manager.

After you have copied or moved an existing Allplan project to Bimplus, you must reassign the users to this project. Otherwise, they cannot access this project.

To define the project members, use the Bimplus project administration. In addition, you must invite new project members to the Bimplus project.

If these Bimplus project members are to use the Allplan Share option too, you must assign an Allplan Share license to each member in advance (as described in ‘3) Assigning licenses’).

Question:

I have installed a Windows update. Now the license is no longer available.
When I start Allplan, I can see the following error message: "This license is no longer available" or "CmActLicense runtime system is not installed!" How can I restore the license?




Answer:

CodeMeter Control Center always saves the license to a container with the number Allplan GmbH 128-XXXXXXX on your computer.

Start CodeMeter Control Center:
Open the Windows start menu and select CodeMeter -> CodeMeter Control Center. As an alternative, open Search by clicking the Search button on the Start screen and enter Codemeter.
Check the Licenses area to see whether there is the following container: Allplan GmbH 128-XXXXXXX.
The container must have a blue-green symbol and not a red symbol


Work through the following steps:

Step 1 Restart CodeMeterService
The local Windows service, which is used by licensing, must be running.

Restart this service:
CodeMeter Control Center -> Process -> Start CodeMeter Service
If the service is running, stop it and restart it.

Now check whether the Allplan GmbH 128-XXXXXXX container is displayed.

If the container is still not visible, go to step 2.

Question:

How can I transfer the NemSLock license permanently to a new computer?



Answer:

Proceed as follows:

  • Install the program on the new computer. Use the temporary license (xxx_xxx_psd.nslock) you received when you purchased the program. If you do not have a temporary license of the current version, contact your support team to request such a license.
    You can then work with the program for 30 days – plenty of time to configure your new computer, transfer the office standard and projects and so on (you can find instructions in the FAQ database).
    At the same time you can work with the program on your old computer without any restrictions.
  • When you have transferred everything you need, return the license to us. To do this, use the old computer and click
    Start -> (All) Programs -> Nemetschek -> Nemetschek SoftLock 2006 -> License Manager
    (Services application -> Utilities -> License -> License Manager (NemSLock)).

    Click "Relocate licenses -> Transfer licenses permanently to a computer". This creates the COMPUTER_NAME.hrdwchg file. Send this file by email to register@nemetschek.de.


Tip: Click &apos;Browse&apos; in the &apos;Send hardware change file (*.hrdwchg)&apos; dialog box. The program creates and saves the COMPUTERNAME.hrdwchgfile. Then Windows Explorerstarts and the folder with the hardware change file opens. You can now use all the options provided by Windows Explorer: for example, you can attach the file to an email, copy it to a computer having Internet access and so on. Email this file to register@nemetschek.de.

Note:
After you have created this file, the Allplan license of your old computer will still be valid for two more days.
As soon as we have removed the registration, we will send you a confirmation by email.

  • Create a registration request (register.txt) on the new computer and send this file by email to register@nemetschek.de.

    To generate a registration request, do the following:
    Open the License Manager (Service application -> Utilities- > License -> License Manager). Select the license entry for your seat and click "Request license". Please follow the instructions displayed on screen. Complete the form. Do not forget to enter your email address.

    You will promptly receive the license for the new computer (provided you have returned the license to us as described above).
    Installing this license file completes the license transfer to the new computer.

The COMPUTER_NAME.hrdwchg file is stored in the following folder:

Allplan 2012 and earlier:

  • Windows 64-bit:
